Few useful tools for new blogger
In this post I will randomly list a few tools that I use for posting and consuming articles and other content at hive in not particular order. This post is geared towards new bloggers and some old veterans at Splinterlands who are either coming back to blogging or started to blog and knows their way around hive blockchain quite a bit. This is no beginner guide, but beginners may find something useful here.

Front-End
Hive being decentralized have multiple ways that may be used to create content. These different tools and all part of hive blockchain and all publishes and uses the same blockchain. These are called front-end. It's native tool is hive.blog, which I have used for a long time. It does have the mandatory dark-mode, without which I won't even consider writing anything personally. I did use it for a while, but I don't anymore, because it doesn't have the side-by-side writer and display.
Popular front ends are:
- peakd, it has a nice "how it works" video on its landing page
- ecency, I have never used, but does have the dark mode
- inleo, I haven't used it in recent time, but used in Leofinance days, yes' to dark mode
These are the three main front ends (and the 4th, default hive.blog) people mostly used these days. These are also the one I personally have some experience with. Personally 95% of the time, or maybe even 99% of the time, I use peakd. I am just familiar with it. I think it has the right mix of utility and aesthetics which the other front ends lack, obviously this is my personal preference and opinion. The cover image is a tribute to that liking.
There are other front-ends that are available out there, the full list maybe obtained here.
A hidden part of PeakD
When in PeakD how many of you clicked on dashboard? I am going to guess, not too many. Next time please consider doing that.
When you click of "dashboard", it opens a page like below:
Yeah, rather cool, eh? You should explore all the buttons here. I am not going to go through each as that will take a lot of writing and lot of time. However, if there is one button that you can't miss, that is the 'analytics' button.
This is the page I like the most. It gives you an overview on how are you doing as a blogger. It give me my current voting mana: 89%; I am doing good on curation. You can track the progress of your account on this page, like I did. Please look into the details of my comments in yellow. Don't forget to click on 'more data' for an wider view of your history.
Same page; but now a month of history
Scrolling down gives me more ideas about my posting and comment histories. Also my incoming and outgoing votes. Maybe you like to check out who is voting you consistently and try and do some networking.
Next on the views and visotors tab, you can get an idea how many views a specific posts is getting. If that number is 1, it is mostly you! So maybe it is time to do something different!
In short, these are the few features I like the most on peakD, and I don't think too many people use this page, and they should. Please let me know if this was helpful at all. Especially for SL players, who are looking to be more consistent bloggers and who wants other people to read your stuff, I think this is an easy place you can explore and improve on.
