Greetings friends, recently in my city the museum reopened to the public. This is great because it gives the opportunity to know closely many of the works of certain local artists who make exhibitions of all their talent, so that it can be appreciated and admired by all the public who visit the museum.

Precisely, several days ago I went to the museum, when they told me that three exhibitions would be open, of some well-known artists of my city. In a previous post I told you about the museum as such, but now I will tell you about the works I saw in each exhibition.

Saludos amigos, hace poco en mi ciudad el museo volvió a abrir a todo público. Esto es genial porque da la oportunidad de conocer de cerca muchas de las obras de ciertos artistas locales que hacen exposiciones de todo su talento, para que pueda ser apreciado y admirado por todo el público que visite el museo.

Precisamente, hace varios días fui al museo, cuando me comentaron que tres exposiciones serían abiertas, de algunos artistas conocidos de mi ciudad. En una publicación anterior les hablé del museo como tal, pero ahora les hablaré de las obras que vi en cada exposición.

50 years in Ceramics: Gestures and Forms

Artist: Francisco Villoria

This exhibition is focused on the art that this artist named Francisco Villoria handles, sculpture. I am also a sculptor so I felt great affinity with all the works that the artist exhibited in his gallery.

Below you can see the first of them, one of the most striking for not being a completely abstract art nor difficult to understand, in the sense that the human forms are easy to recognize, although there is a scene in the work that can be interpreted in different ways and although I would dare to give an interpretation, perhaps you, dear reader, would have a completely different interpretation.

50 años en la Cerámica: Gestos y formas

Esta exposición está centrada en el arte que maneja este artista llamado Francisco Villoria, la escultura. Yo también soy escultor así que sentí gran afinidad con todas las obras que el artista expuso en su galería.

A continuación pueden ver la primera de ellas, una de las más llamativas por no ser un arte completamente abstracto ni difícil de entender, en el sentido de que las formas humanas son fáciles de reconocer, aunque hay una escena en la obra que se puede interpretar de distintas maneras y aunque yo me atrevería a dar una interpretación, quizás tu, estimado lector, tendrías una interpretación completamente distinta.

Another type of sculptures that I found in the exhibition were the busts and faces made in materials ranging from actilla to copper and other metals.

I find fascinating the way in which he manages to capture the essence of the human face and place it in an abstract bust, losing its humanity to become something more abstract and difficult to understand; however, you can see the silhouettes and features of each face, even allowing you to imagine what kind of people each face could belong to.

Otro tipo de esculturas que me encontré en la exposición fueron las de bustos y rostros hechos en materiales que van desde la actilla hasta el cobre y otros metales.

Me resulta fascinante la manera en como logra captar la esencia del rostro humano y colocarlo en un busto abstracto, perdiendo este busto su humanidad para convertirse en algo más abstracto y difícil de comprender; sin embargo, se logran ver las siluetas y rasgos de cada rostro, permitiendo incluso imaginar a qué tipo de personas podría pertenecer cada rostro.

Almost all the sculptures had the same pattern, a sort of deformed bust with a very well made face, but something that caught my attention was that all the sculptures had something quite peculiar in their eyes. Look at the pupils, all of them had small holes, something that I suppose the author wanted to place as his own mark.

Casi todas las esculturas tenían el mismo patrón, una suerte de busto deforme con un rostro muy bien hecho, pero algo que me llamó la atención es que todas las esculturas en sus ojos tenían algo bastante peculiar. Fíjense en las pupilas, todas tenían agujeritos pequeños, algo que debo suponer quiso colocar el autor como su propia marca.

The other exhibition was a painting-oriented one, as it had many artistic works made with different materials, from oil to crayons, yes, crayons.

La otra exposición era una orientada más que todo a la pintura, pues tenía muchas obras artísticas hechas con diversos materiales, desde oleo hasta crayones, sí, crayones.

Homage to Antonio Escobar

Look for a moment at the following work, it looks like a photograph if seen from afar, because it keeps a lot of details of a savannah adorned by a lake and palm trees in the surroundings, with mountains in the background that make an excellent combination with a sky whose sun is setting behind such a majestic mountain range. In addition, there is a Chiguire (or capybara) in the foreground of the work.

Fíjense por un instante en la siguiente obra, parece una fotografía si se ve desde lejos, pues guarda una gran cantidad de detalles de una sabana adornada por un lago y palmeras en los alrededores, con unas montañas de fondo que hacen una excelente combinación con un cielo cuyo sol está ocultándose detrás de tan majestuosa cadena montañosa. Además, hay un Chiguire (o capibara) en primer plano de la obra.

There were many like this one, really beautiful works that captured very well the author's vision of certain scenarios, both natural and urban, both colorful and more opaque, such as those shown below:

Como esta habían muchas, obras realmente hermosa que captaban muy bien la visión del autor sobre ciertos escenarios, tanto naturales como urbanos, tanto coloridos como otros más opacos, tal como los que se muestra a continuación:

Speaking of urban landscapes, it is interesting to see how the creator of the following works manages to capture, like a photograph, real scenes of the region, familiar places, small towns and rural localities.

He keeps a great amount of details and one could well entertain oneself in each of these works enumerating the great amount of details he has, from small pieces of cloth hanging from a palisade, to the name of the signs of the stores in a small rural street.

Hablando de paisajes urbanos, es interesante ver cómo el creador de las siguientes obras logra capturar, cual fotografía, escenarios reales de la región, lugares conocidos, de pueblos pequeños y rurales de la localidad.

Guarda gran cantidad de detalles y uno podría bien entretenerse en cada una de estas obras enumerando la gran cantidad de detalles que tiene, desde pequeños trozos de tela colgando de una empalizada, hasta el nombre de los letreros de los comercios de una pequeña calle rural.

Something also worth noting from this exhibition were a couple of works made in stone. Yes, one might think that a rock cannot be material for art, but yes, in the right hands a stone can become a beautiful sculpture, or something more, as is the case here:

Algo que también vale la pena destacar de esta exposición fueron un par de obras hechas en piedra. Sí, uno podría pensar que una roca no puede ser material para el arte, pero sí, en las manos correctas una piedra puede convertirse en una bellísima escultura, o en algo más, tal como es este caso:

Another artist who was in the exhibition delighted us with a series of works of birds, yes, the best dressed of nature.

This series of works well exposed in this room keep a lot of details of each of these birds, being interesting and entertaining to stop and look at each picture trying to imagine how these birds would be in real life.

Otro artista que estaba en la exposición nos deleitó con una serie de obras de pájaros, sí, los mejore vestidos de la naturaleza.

Esta serie de obras bien expuestas en este salón guardan gran cantidad de detalles de cada una de estas aves, siendo interesante como entretenido detenerse a observar cada cuadro tratando de imaginar cómo serían estos pajaritos en la vida real.

Another of the works that caught my attention was this one made with crayons. I should clarify that it did not catch my attention because of the representation of the cockfight, but because of that, because it was made with crayons.

One might think that this type of material, crayons, are not ideal for creating a high quality painting, but this is a good example that it is not the material, but the hand that uses the material that can influence whether or not a work of art is created with that material.

Otra de las obras que más llamó mi atención fue esta hecha con crayones. Debo aclarar que no llamó mi atención por la representación de la pelea de gallos, sino por eso, porque fue hecha con crayones.

Uno podría pensar que este tipo de material, los crayones, no son los ideales para crear una pintura de gran calidad, pero este es un buen ejemplo de que no es el material, sino la mano que utiliza el material lo que puede influir en que se cree o no una obra de arte con dicho material.

The third exhibition I was able to visit is one oriented to completely abstract art, but with great symbolism.

La tercera exposición que pude visitar es una orientado al arte completamente abstracto, pero con gran simbolismo.

Forms Found

Artists: Al Venegas

This third gallery is the most interesting of all and yet I feel it is the one I can talk about the least, because I think it is an experience that each person must live.

You see, as the guide tells us, this room has a lot of abstract works inspired by the human form, specifically the female figure. I like to think that the artist called the exhibition found works because he exhibits his works, but each of us must find the forms that he wanted to portray in each of these sculptures.

Aristas: Al Venegas

Esta tercera galería es la más interesante de todas y aún así siento que es de la que menos puedo hablar, porque creo que es una experiencia que cada persona debe vivir.

Verán, según nos cuenta el guía, esta sala cuenta con un montón de obras abstractas inspiradas en la forma humana, específicamente en la figura femenina. Me gusta pensar que el artista llamó la exposición obras encontradas porque el expone sus obras, pero cada uno de nosotros de encontrar las formas que él quiso retratar en cada una de estas esculturas.

I found many similarities of these works with the female figure, it is just a matter of sitting down to look closely at each work to find the shapes that the author wanted to show in each of his small works. This is an interesting exercise and I think it is the charm of this work, so I will not tell you anything else, I will just leave the photos so that everyone can try to find the shapes in these works.

Yo encontré muchas similitudes de estas obras con la figura femenina, solo es cuestión de sentarse a observar detenidamente cada obra para encontrar las formas que el autor quiso mostrar en cada una de sus pequeñas obras. Este es un ejercicio interesante y creo que es el encanto de esta obra, así que no les diré nada mas, solo dejaré las fotos para que cada uno trate de encontrar las formas en estas obras.
