Full of Thorns - Who Knows The Name, Please?

in WE ARE MOVING6 months ago

The vast landed property belonging to the Ilorin International Airport, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Is inhabited by several rodents and medium size wild animals. There are rats, grasscutters, rabbits, squirrels and lots of those rodents.

The property is attributed to the Nigerian Airforce Authority and so, local hunters who usually enter the bush to hunt animals are not allowed to operate in the property. It's only the farmers who are allowed to farm in the land. So, as much of the landed property on which there is no structure is free for farming.

As I've come to learn, farming is highly welcome in the airport property because it helps to reduce the forest and clears the land of bushes. As we all know, an airport area is not good to have thick bushes around it. It is in the light of this that farming activities are allowed in the property. I have some acres of land which I use for farming within the property.

While I was going through my farmstead, preparing the ground and clearing the bush, I saw this creature. I don't know what it is called and I want to know. That is why this platform is a learning platform. Please, anyone who knows its name should help me in the comments section.

Full Of Thorns

The nature of the little mammal is unique. Is it actually a mammal? I don't know. The hair on its body is thorns. The face looks like what we called bush baby. It folds itself into a ball when it sees a predator. You won't be able to touch it because of the thorns. Please, what is it called?

Me parece que es un puercoespín

Thank you friend. 😀
😊I wish I could hear what you said.

That is a hedgehog. I am sorry, but I do not know the gender. My theory is that maybe its a female hedgehog because it curled up into a ball when it saw you. Males (of any creature) usually fight the predator. They are harmless if you don't touch them. I hope it helps!
