I live on the banks of the Rock River. It is in flood stage. I've seen it worse, but we keep getting torential rains and water levels do not have an opportunity to receed. The Missouri is an awesome river.

The rain up North of us is what caused these issues. If this would have happened in the Spring during the snow & ice melt we would be much worse off. I wonder if we would have these problems if we didnt channelize the river via damns and all. All it takes is a little mother nature and poor damn management and bam here comes flooding. Not the case with damn management this year but I think it had a lot to do with it in 2011. North and South of town flooding is worse some highways and interstates are closed. The bad is some farmers land & houses are flooded for the third time since 2011. Anyways I hope your situation improves there 🙏
First time ever we had a mud slide that deposited enough clay onto our little dead end road that caused people to get stuck and required tow truck services! An endloader was brought in for cleanup and a new culvert will be installed. (Road is paved not gravel)
Yuck and water leaves it's mark during and in your case after the water resides. A lot of places need to be cleaned up by nature and man afterwards. Here's another area where unfortunately property was involved.
