Today, I joined my friend Bart for a day out on his sailboat. Now, before you picture us heroically navigating the open seas with billowing sails, let me clarify: we didn’t actually sail. Instead, we powered up the engine and enjoyed a smooth cruise down the river.
The temperature was freezing, but the sun decided to make a guest appearance, creating a perfect balance of brisk air and golden warmth. The stillness of the water, the quiet hum of the engine, and the serene surroundings were oddly therapeutic. It was one of those moments where you forget about emails, deadlines, and to-do lists.
Sometimes, it’s not about the destination or even the activity—it’s about being present, sharing a laugh with a good friend, and soaking in a day that felt like a gift. Sailing or no sailing, this was a day well spent.
Here’s to more adventures like this, maybe next time with the sails up. But for now? A hot drink and some central heating sound perfect.
