The sky was definitely not as golden as the picture below, but put this is what I see when I put on my prescription sunglasses. A changed view. And hopefully, that is what I will get over the next month and a bit, as today I officially started my vacation! And, while of course I like vacations normally, I am really feeling like I need a proper one for the first time in many years.
And to celebrate, we went to the beach in the evening.
Before the rains come tomorrow.
Typical holiday weather.
But, as I was saying to Smallsteps who was complaining in the morning about the weather changing for the worse in the foreseeable future, We have to fit our actions to the conditions, because we are unable to change the conditions to fit our actions. And it is still only June, so despite the 30+ weather,
The water is still freezing.
I lost my winter coat.
Which means, I took my first "swim" in the lake this summer. Sim is stretching the meaning of the term, because I walked out to waist level, gathered my courage, and then dipped down to my neck for about a minute, before getting out again and back into the warmth of the sun.
And a stiff breeze.
The weather was changing while we were there and the winds were picking up quite a lot, as the heat lifted and let the cool air under the warm blanket. Tomorrow it will still be relatively warm at around 22, but will dip a bit colder for the next week and there will be rain - so no beaching.
We don't have much planned for the vacation time yet, and my wife still has a week to work, and Smallsteps and I will have to get up to mischief just the two of us. One of the things we are planning is to clean the house really well at the end of the week for the start of the entire family being on vacation.
Small things.
I am also thinking I should write a summer series this year, similar to what I used to do several years ago when I would walk the dog. These are shorter articles on whatever thoughts and reflections are on mind, without going into too much detail, that I am able to write from a phone if needs be. I really enjoyed these kinds of posts in the past, because they felt even more immediate, often using pictures that I have taken a moment earlier. I think it would be nice to have a series through this summer, especially since we are hoping to be out and about and away from home - even if we don't go far.
There is always something interesting to reflect on - regardless of the weather.
