That's why renting a Virtual Private Server (VPS) would be a middle ground between hosting a node on your own computer and not hosting at all. 🤔 While hosting a node on a VPS costs money and is normally less secure, it offers advantages such as running nodes there will no longer use up the CPU, RAM, storage, and network bandwidth of your laptop, as well as the electricity required to run such machines. 🤓😏

Yes, I understand the usefulness of a VPS for sure, and if that is an affordable option, then it could be a good choice. We may use something like that when we set up the MMB witness node. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Looks like the price of a VPS is !INDEED a major factor in deciding whether to use a VPS as a (good) middle ground while you don't (yet) have another desktop/laptop computer for hosting more "sovereignty-driven" nodes! 🤔🤯😅

Yeppers, indeedy, if I can't afford it, it's a mute point until I can. For some it'd be a good option, though if you don't own the hardware, things can go awry, like what happened to the Privex datacenters in Europe. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

It's generally always true that when you use hardware owned by somebody else, your data there can either be lost or be leaked. 🤔🤯 The same goes with hardware you own, though are operated by other people. 🤯🤓

Maybe the farthest extent that you will let other people use your own hardware is that if they want to do quick online searches (on your laptop or phone) where you would be looking what they do. 🤔🤯

That's fairly true. If I do trust people, then as long as they know what they're doing, I'm usually fine with them doing other things too, as long as it does not impede me in doing what I need to do. I also run Arch Linux on my laptop, which very few people know how to navigate well, so in that case it's generally not an issue.

Maybe if the people who ask to use your laptop just want to do quick online searches, you can just open a private window on your favorite web browser (either #Vivaldi or #Brave) on your laptop so that they can search right away. 🤔🧘‍♂️🤓

Maybe ask borniet for a digital whip when he gets some available time to find or create one! 🤔😅
