In this week @LadiesofHive - Contest # 187 questions are:
1️⃣ Memorial Day in the US is remembering the military service men and women who gave their lives in service to the country. It is also the weekend that is typically thought of as the kick off of summer. How do you celebrate it, or does your country have a special celebration this time of year as well? If so, how do you celebrate?

2️⃣ With summer fast approaching (winter, if below the equator) what special vacation plans do you have in the next couple of months? Where are you going and what activities are planned? Please include any photos of your destination.
In my country India, around this time we do not have any kind of celebrations, this is the dull time of the year and extremely hot also. May is peak summer and there are school holidays so many people plan for vacation to some hilly regions to beat the heat in the month of May. The month of June is kind of a mix with summer and monsoon setting in. Climate does get better. There is nothing special happening in this month. It is the beginning of the school term, so families with children get occupied with school routines.
To talk about the Memorial Day, in India we do not celebrate the Memorial Day. We celebrate the Indian Army Day which falls on 15th January. On this day there is a Army Parade in the Capital city Delhi followed by various military shows and celebrations. These Soldiers are the real heroes of our country. It is because of them that we are able to live peacefully.
When I was on my trek, I kept on getting these thoughts again and again, how do these people manage to survive for so long in extreme climatic conditions. Just in a matter of few days up on the Mountains I was feeling I could not take it any longer. The cold on some of the border areas of India is so extreme and these people live here for months and years. Really incredible. They leave their families and serve at the borders not knowing what their fate is going to be. And the sad part is that they are not even remunerated that well to justify their sacrifice towards the Country. The ones on the higher hierarchies are better off but those at junior levels are still struggling in life to meet their needs, and not to forget actually these are the people who are doing the real job.
