I have always been a huge fan of cats but my kids love dogs. We kept a dog for a couple of years until it became hard to maintain. He was an American bully but grew massive then their usual size. We had to put him up for adoption and he was taken by a good and caring family. Parting with him was difficult for us and we still miss him. This time I wanted a cat and everyone agreed on it. The good thing is they won't grow massive in size, don't eat a huge amount of food and they don't need lots of space.
We adopted our Persian cat last year. She is a beautiful white fluffy creature with big hazel eyes. Her name is Tom.. yeah I know what you are thinking, it's quite a masculine name but at that time it looked like a male cat but when it grew up it turned out ‘She’. We fell in love with her at first sight. She has her own mood swings and unique character. Sometimes she loves to be with us and other times she tries to stay away from us.
Having a cat as a pet has been a wonderful experience so far. We love our feline friend a lot. It has brought us lots of happiness and benefits.
If you are interested in having feline friend then you have to know these things:
- Cats are moody:
They are moody creatures who have mood swings just like humans. But sometimes we don't understand them and perceive them as being moody. Every cat has its own unique personality. Some are extroverts and some are introverts. They are very sensitive to their environment and can sense change and it affects their moods.
- Cats also communicate:
Cats communicate in their own way. They show their needs and feelings through their body language which mostly we are unable to understand. They communicate with their tails too. They get stressed by loud noise or conflict with other animals.
- Cats are stress reliever:
With their unconditional love and purring you forget all about your hard day. They are believed to be the best companion enhancing your life with their presence around you. When you pet your cat it lowers your blood pressure and reduces risk of heart diseases by the release of oxytocin in your body which reduces stress. The purring vibration can have a healing effect on us and is a stress and anxiety reliever.
- Keeps you busy:
Cats are very curious and very playful, so having it in your house can stimulate your brain and keep you active. Playing with them is quite engaging and fun. They can be very naughty too.
- Cats the hunters:
They are natural hunters and hunt down every rodent and insect they find in your house. Our cat killed all the rats and now we can sleep peacefully. They are natural pest control.
- Cats and longevity:
They stay around for a longer period of time providing their companionship to humans for a longer period of time. We need to get it checked and get it vaccinated properly to keep it healthy. When they are not feeling well they won't be their usual self and sleep alot.
Once you have your cat for quite some time with you, you would get used to it and understand their moods. Provide them with a stable environment, plenty of playtime, love and care to keep them happy and content. This will lead to the best human and cat companionship ever. Once you bring a cat in your house your life won't be same again.
