Name - Killers of the Flower Moon
Released - 2023
Director- Martin Scorsese
There have been a few goods shows and movies popping up on Apple TV and Killers of the Flower Moon is one of those. It stars Leonardo di Caprio who is one of my favorite actors and in this film, he is quite different to how we have seen him before.
He has played rogue characters in the past, but somehow, not quite a bad guy as in this film. It also has Robert De Niro who we are used to playing a scheming wise-guy, but here he is also abit more sinster than how we are used to him compared to some of his more recent roles.
I didn't know what to expect from this film and it wouldn't be something that I might normally watch. I have watched quite a few Scorsese films in the past, but not too much recently. However, seeing Leonardo piqued my interest.
It is quite a long movie and I feel the film is basically has 3 parts to it. The first part where Leo meets Molly, the second part where the deaths happen and the final part is the trail.
I didn't know much about this film or story until I watched it and I found myself pretty shocked at some of the criminality and seeing Leo in this role and his character which you would initially want to like being a Leo character, but it is someone you actaully really dislike and is pretty heartbreaking that someone could be like this.
The acting by Lily Gladstone (Molly) is probably the best performance in the film along with Leo. Together they really come together and unite the film.
My favorite scene in the film probably is when the texas ranger shows up and you feel some relief that there might be a happy ending to this tragic story. Jesse Plemons utters those infamous words that he is from the Federal Government that usually would not be welcomed, but he plays a great hero.
Brendan Fraser, although not long in the film was quite powerful for me in his short scenes and it is interesting to see how he has changed from his early roles in films as he has gotten older.
There were some interesting scenes with Robert De Niro too, such as when he is spanking Leo and seeing him on the stairs as he is brought before the courts, reminded me of a younger Rob as Al Capone.
Overall, I think the film is worth watching and certainly very tragic and left a mark on me.
Have you seen it?
Thanks for reading.
