Hello, Foodies Hive.
Welcome to my blog.
I will be sharing how I cooked my simple melon soup.
Melon soup is a popular delicious meal in Nigeria.
Eaten mostly for lunch and dinner with any swallow of your choice.
Ingredients I used in making the soup.
- Melon
- Meat
- Kpomo (cow skin)
- Crayfish
- Periwinkle
- Onions
- Fresh peppers
- Palm oil
- Bullion cubes
- Salt
- Uziza (hot leaf)
Melon - I already bought the grinded melon from the market.
Which is considered the main ingredient in this soup.
I bought a cup and I used all for the soup.
Meat - I used beef and chicken for this soup.
Both in little quantities.
I also added little kpomo to the soup to create a little obstacle in the meal.
I decided to go for the periwinkle without shell.
I used a bulb of onions as part of my spices.
After grinding the peppers, I noticed it wasn't so hot and spicy as praised in the market.
I blended the crayfish immediately after the fresh peppers, that some of the pepper mixed in them.
Crayfish also serves as a spice.
This is the palm oil I used, so fresh and cool.
Salt to taste
I used Maggi as my bullion cube, I used two cubes for the soup.
The vegetable I used, I noticed how small it is after plucking and cutting it.
I started by seasoning the beef, chicken, and kpomo with grinded fresh peppers, chopped onions, a cube of maggi, and half tablespoon of salt.
Then, I cooked them for some time before adding the periwinkle.
I brought it down and set it aside.
Next I scooped two kitchen spoons of the stock and added it to the melon.
It formed a paste.
****Procedure for the main soup making****
In a dry pot, I added little oil, allowed it to be hot.
Then, I added a pinch of salt, some onions, and the paste melon.
I stir-fried them for a while before adding the blended crayfish until the melon formed little balls.
Then, I added all the stock with obstacles inside and allowed to cook together.
I added hot leaf, stirred them together, and reduced the heat before turning off the cooker.
Our soup is ready 😋
This can be eaten with any swallow of your choice.
I will be enjoying mine with fufu that I bought from the market.
Thank you very much for stopping by 😊
