In India we use sesame seed oil for both external as well as internal. We have been doing that for generations and haven't thought of it creating any health issues. Maybe too much can create health issues.
In some parts of India they consume groundnut oil (peanut oil) for cooking. But they usually say that we have to do enough physical activity to break down the oil. But mostly in villages, people work in fields and they easily do a lot of physical activity to break down the consumed oil.
But I think that only too much creates health issues and otherwise it is fine.
