Today I want to tell you about my experience, in the commemoration of the 207th anniversary of the Battle of Montecristo or better known as Escaramuza de Montecristo, which led our distinguished Marigüitense General Francisco Mejía, on January 21, 1817, that battle occurred right here in Marigüitar, Bolivar municipality of our state of Sucre, very close to where I live in the urbanization Cocalitos, specifically around the Montecristo street, near the beach and the Municipal market.
This commemoration was carried out with the intention of informing students, teachers and the community in general, about the historical events that occurred on the shores of the Gulf of Cariaco, the officer Mejia, received orders from General Santiago Mariño, to neutralize the ships with Spanish flags that were trying to seize the Gulf of Cariaco.
Currently, in this site where the battle of the Escaramuza was led, is property of HidroCaribe de Marigüitar, in its interiors operates a sewage treatment plant. There is a carved marble plaque with the following inscription: "In this place the battle of Montecristo was fought by the General in Chief Francisco Mejía, who made his people independent from the royalists on January 21, 1817".
This commemoration was opened with a parade that started from the Bolivar Square to the Mejia Square with the accompaniment of the Francisco Mejia band, to bring encouragement and enthusiasm in the march, there participated all the 4 school circuits of our municipality Bolivar, being responsible for the event the circuit number 2 and the municipal chamber, with the special participation of the brigades of Bolivarian Society and Heritage and Tourism of all schools that make life in our municipality Bolivar.
Upon arriving at the Mejía square, the Municipal Chamber began a solemn session to commemorate the 207th anniversary of the Escaramuza de Montecristo, where flowers were presented to the distinguished General in Chief Francisco Mejía, cultural activities were also held: poetry by students, a galerón on the occasion of the Escaramuza by Professor Yimne Maican el Pollito de Miramar and culminating the event with the presentation of the Magisterial Theater group with the play "Nuestra Historia" (Our History).

Hola a todos y todas mis hivers, amante de lo nuestro, bienvenido a mi blog.
El día de hoy quiero contarle mi experiencia, en la conmemoración de los 207 años de la Batalla de Montecristo o mejor conocida como Escaramuza de Montecristo, que lideró nuestro insigne Marigüitense General Francisco Mejía, el 21 de enero del año 1817, esa batalla ocurrió aquí mismos en Marigüitar, municipio Bolívar de nuestro estado Sucre, muy cerca donde vivo en la urbanización los Cocalitos, específicamente en los alrededores de la calle Montecristo, muy cerca de la playa y del mercado Municipal.
Esta conmemoración se llevó a cabo con la intención de dar a conocer a los estudiantes, docentes y comunidad en general, sobre los hechos históricos ocurridos a las orillas del Golfo de Cariaco, el oficial Mejía, recibió órdenes del General Santiago Mariño, para neutralizar a los buques con banderas españolas que intentaban apoderarse del Golfo de Cariaco.
Actualmente, en este sitio donde se lideró la batalla de la Escaramuza, es propiedad de HidroCaribe de Marigüitar, en sus interiores funciona una planta de tratamiento de aguas servidas. Se encuentra reposando allí, una placa de Mármol tallado con el siguiente escrito: "En este sitio se libró la batalla de Montecristo por el General en Jefe Francisco Mejía, quien independizó a su pueblo de los realistas 21-01-1817".
Se aperturó esta conmemoración, con un desfile que partió desde la plaza Bolívar hasta la plaza Mejía con el acompañamiento de la banda Francisco Mejía, para llevar el ánimo y entusiasmo en la marcha, allí participaron todos los 4 circuitos escolares de nuestro municipio Bolívar, siendo responsable del evento el circuito número 2 y la cámara municipal, con la participación especial de las brigadas de Sociedad Bolivariana y Patrimonio y Turismo de todas las escuelas que hacen vida en nuestro municipio Bolívar.
Al llegar a la plaza Mejía, se dio inicio a la sesión solemne por la Cámara Municipal para conmemorar los 207 aniversarios de la Escaramuza de Montecristo, donde se hizo entrega floral al insigne General en Jefe Francisco Mejía, también se efectuaron actividades culturales: poesía de parte de los estudiantes, galerón con motivo a la Escaramuza del profesor Yimne Maican el Pollito de Miramar y culminando el evento con la presentación del grupo Magisterial de Teatro con la Obra "Nuestra Historia"
