On the flower lawn - Part 16 from 12/24/2023 + flower photo contest.
Let's imagine that it's summer and we find ourselves in a flower meadow surrounded by beautiful flowers.
Sometimes you can get lost in conjecture thinking about why some plants were given exactly these names.
The list may be large for those plants for which such a misunderstanding may arise but as a rule in order to understand the semantic meaning of a plant you need to be near it at the right time, namely, at the same time when the naturalist who gave the name to the plant happened to be near it but with a difference of several hundred or tens of years.
*Three people who posted photos of flowers in the comments to this post (the three best photos among all the photos that I see in the comments) will receive a prize from me in the form of ALIVE and LOLZ tips.
For example the plant Lupinus a relative of beans peas and beans, has a second name "Wolf Bean".
Look at these beautiful flowers... what does this remind you of wolves?
It is very strange if you find yourself near this plant during the flowering period but if you wait a little and wait until the flowers fall and pods with beans form in their place then everything will fall into place the pods are covered with gray hairs similar to the fur of a wolf.
Today is the case when I am not interested in the beans but in the flowers of this plant and these flowers are beautiful and attract many pollinating insects.
The prize for the three winners of the competition is a ALIVE and LOLZ tip!
