Hi my dear,, after celebrating Eid al-Fitr by visiting relatives with family members, today we have returned to our routine as farmers with a feeling of pride and enthusiasm for activities, so today I decided to go to one of the family's gardens with a distance of 30 minutes traveling by motorbike, I left this morning at around 08.00 WIT after the sun appeared in the east, I left a little late, in the previous days of the fasting month I left at 07.15, now I can leave later because I can do activities freely in the garden without worrying about thirst due to fasting, so if I'm tired I can eat and drink in the garden.
I left the house full of supplies such as coffee, cigarettes and bread, this has become our habit from time to time when farming, so I went alone on a motorbike and at around 08.35 I arrived at the location, I parked my motorbike at a shady place, there is a large langsat tree with thick leaves so my motorbike is protected from the heat, after parking the motorbike then I enter the garden and go around several corners, this takes a few minutes because my garden is a bit large and I have to walk, of course in the garden if I walk I have to be careful, there are lots of rotten tree branches, thorns and so on, some plants are still productive even though in the summer it makes me very happy because the family's financial resources are still fine.
but everything changed when I arrived at one corner of the garden, this was 75 meters from where I parked my motorbike earlier, I was really shocked when I saw that the plants we had just planted two months ago were experiencing drought, this made us frustrated considering we had a lot of capital we have used it to care for the plants, oh my god, in my heart I keep praying that the rain will fall soon, if the rain doesn't fall in the near future all these plants will die, as you can see in the main picture it is a areca palm tree that has just been planted around 2 months and almost all the leaves have dried up, this is all caused by very extreme hot weather, this is the first time we have experienced heat like now, really hot to the point that many plants have fallen due to lack of water.
now let's look at the condition of the plants in my garden;
This is a taro plant, a type of plant that produces fresh tubers but now its condition is very critical.
areca nut fronds drooped due to the hot weather and our difficulty in getting water.
Areca palms with a planting age of one month also experience water shortages.
The grass is completely dry, this will have a bad effect on our areca palm plants because they lose root protection.
Coconut fronds are falling, areca palm fronds are drooping and dry grass is united, and let's hope there aren't any sparks around because that would create new problems for our plants that are facing drought.
facing conditions like today, we as traditional farmers can only surrender, to get water we need to dig 250 meters into the ground and that requires very large costs, so far we have only been farming by relying on rainwater but the current hot weather has never happened. we thought beforehand, and hope we find a solution for our garden, and one of them is hoping that the universe will send heavy rain so that our cultivated plants can recover and grow well as we hope, in our city the majority of people depend on the agricultural sector for their living, but the current conditions Many farmers will complain with feelings of uncertainty, we hope that things will improve again and hope will come to our lives to continue living.
Thank you very much for reading about the condition of our gardens in summer, I hope the readers are willing to give us lots of prayers so that our gardens recover and we farmers can live happily, see you all 🙏🙏
