In a society driven by a democracy where power is supposed to be vested in the people and given the chance to participate in decision-making to choose a capable office representative instead, our voices are been infringed on.
Today as I take you on the journey of how effective our voices can be in our society and political realm through the medium of my blog, I welcome everyone who believes in the power of their voices.
Referring to my country Nigeria, A country located in West Africa, is Home to different ethnic groups each with its own flare. A land rich in fertile soil and all kinds of natural resources.
But our voices are not heard and sometimes silenced, our rights are been disregarded we only get to live as prisoners who feed on crumb when we are supposed to be living as kings and queens in their palaces without any fear. A land rich in fertile soil and all kinds of natural resources
country where we choose a leader who promises a better tenure, who promises growth, who promises development but we end up getting nothing instead we get violated and our human rights are disregarded
Our voices can be heard if we all come together and speak in one just like we did during the “END SARs” which occurred in the year 2020.
“END SARs” tends to be a direct message sent to the government when young boys and girls cannot walk freely in their homeland anymore Instead they walk with fear of “will I get home safely without being arrested for no reason or killed”
It was an unforgettable experience that as never happened before where the people and youth had to come out with blood in their eyes, pain in their hearts, and ready to fight to the very end.
A Moment every youth and people once shared a general kindness. There, we thought we’d won against the government but painfully the reason we came out to speak happened again even while we were protesting against it meaning we voiced out loud but we were not totally united and we ended up losing a lot of good people, friends, brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers on the battlefield.
One of the darkest moments we will never forget in our country “20th of October 2020”.
To every fallen heroes on the battlefield that day this is a reminder to your family that we love you and may your souls rest in perfect peace.
This event that took place in my country Nigeria that year is a sign to us of how strong and effective our voices can be heard if truly we stand in unity we will progress.
Do not keep in that pain, that torment, that abuse speak out loud because there’s power in our voices.
