Growing up, one thing I enjoyed doing and still do is, using my imaginations. Many things have been imagined than have been said and that is because a lot of them, I feel they are not worth sharing. Like many children , I had the dreams of becoming a medical doctor and I was very positive about becoming one.
Did I act on that dream? Yes, but looking back now, I wasn't equipped enough for it and life also happened. But for a long time, most of my imagination were about me playing the doctor role or working towards taking the role.
Imaginations makes me happy and sometimes, ideas come to me that I feel like a genius for such idea to come up. In one of my imagination many years ago, an idea came to me. I believe it's over 8 years already so a decade isn't an exaggeration, this idea came to me like a revelation.
In that imagination, I didn't just come up with the idea, I also pictured down to the stage where I'll make a name and lots of money for my generation with it. Something actually brought about this idea to my head, the situation of children with less privileges around as at that time. I wanted to change things for them but it was in the most unrealistic way at the time I thought of it.
What is this decade-old idea that has stuck for so long?
"I want to own a school..." Not the usual ones we already know. So here is what I thought then and I still think about it. A big and well built school with like a hundred sections in it for the sole purpose of educating children on a wider range, more than just school subjects.
The plan is to start building whatever skill they find interest in right from when they are in the kindergarten. And this would not be without the formal and usual education that every kid should have according scheme of work.
A school with qualified teachers and also a different set of skilled workers who would identify and train children as extra curriculum so they can build different skills of their choice while they excel in their studies to gain professional knowledge. So even a kid dreaming to become a medical doctor could have a skill before he becomes studies to become a doctor.
When I say skills, I mean, fashion designing, computer skills, hair styling, creating or making products, and just any skill learnable will be available in the school. Right after learning the usual studies, each kid will be assigned to their trainer to take a class for skill acquisition.
The world has advanced to the point where every person should have a skill and some skills are hotshots now. If a school like this exist, I believe I'll make a lot of money from it but I would definitely have to put in a lot of money as well.
The children could even start getting paid according to their level as they progress from a class level to another class level in the skill aspect. I believe parents would find such a school better for their kids and even older people would have a room to learn as well.
It's still very much just an idea but I am not letting it go anytime soon, still have the believe that I'll get to actualize it someday. It's a big one from what I've imagined it to be so I'll need to take my time and bring it to reality.
