"How time flies" was what came to my mind as soon as I saw the @hivenaija prompt for this week.
I took a trip down memory lane, way back to my secondary school days. The reason I chose my Secondary School days was because of the rollercoaster events and emotions that it's packed with.
I attended a private school, no doubt cos I was quite intelligent, smart and cheeky. I remember coming out with 3rd position among numerous students who also wrote the exam. That alone set me apart from the moment I resumed.

The thing was that I came from a not so wealthy side of town and got enrolled into a very prestigious secondary school. This got people wondering about the stuff I was made of and it caused virtually all eyes to be on me. I was popular from the very first day till I graduated from the school but asides from my intelligence, something else made me well-known in school
I was not a regular student, don't get me wrong, I followed the rules but I added a twist to every rule, something to spice out all the boring school rules, that's what I did.
I would knot my tie half way up and leave one button undone. I was the class story teller, revelling in the attention I always attracted anytime it was time for my stories, which was usually at reading time or free periods.
I was good at weaving stories and I should confess that I exaggerated those stories a little because of the attention I received from all of them.
I was also notorious for usually escaping from punishments. I had a witty knack for making punishments seem so fun. One time I came late to school and was punished with some other kids to go clear the school farm. Right there while we were carrying out the punishment, I began singing a popular hip-hop song by Sisqo and before you know it, other students had joined. When I felt that the
teacher was not looking, I began a semi-break dance amongst the grasses and lost track of time, the other students left their work and began cheering for me with their hands moving rhythmically to the tune I was singing. A prefect's arrival stopped the circus and we were asked to go back to our classes. This caused us to do only half of the work, without realizing it, I was already a hero.
Academically, I rarely had completed notes but I was still managed to be among the top ten every term. This baffled my classmates a lot as they couldn't understand how I did it when I had just little notes to begin with. Teachers never caught me as I had a ready excuse up my sleeves to dish out to any teacher that asked about my notes.
Well with the good also came the bad as well because I also suffered my fair share of bullying because I was very skinny but my sanguine side never allowed those harsh words to get to me. I scaled through all the adversities, betrayals, schemes and all that I experienced in school and was able to gain an education.
I really miss school life with all it's drama. I miss my classmates, some of whom are dead now while the rest are scattered abroad. Although we chat periodically on Facebook, it's not as interesting as when were still teens. "Indeed how time flies".
Thanks for all for reading..shalom
