As I took a walk in the park one cool evening, I chanced upon Mr and Mrs Johnson. They were a couple in their fifties who lived in my neighborhood and were known to always go everywhere together. Even now, they were seated on a bench and cuddling. Judging,by how close they were and the trust they shared for your each other, I could say that they had been together for a long time.

"This love is strong o, see the way they're glued to each other like Bonny and Clyde. Na was o, I go love o" I thought to myself.

Taking a seat on one of the benches not too far away from them, I observed the couple and found them to be genuinely in love. They were unashamed as they dished out "dog food" (PDA), to the public. Luckily, I was the only other person that was present at the park at the time.

Seeing them display with reckless abandon, took me down memory lane to when I first met my first love. His name was Jude and he was a part time member at my church. He was a great singer but he was not usually regular as he always had various invites to sing in various church events during the weekend.

Well we connected as friends through choir rehearsals, when he would attend to give us some musical tips, hehe. Eventually we began dating and he took his time to be patient with me as he pulled me out from my "shy shell" and onto a "magic carpet ride". I could not face crowds prior to mee

He was a gentleman like no other, I could even say that he was a real life Romeo, always sacrificing and doing things to please me and make me happy. He dedicated most of his time to helping me become a better singer. Soon we were singing duets and covering every song we knew, from every possible genre.

He was not mushy in his romance style but rather he was steady and dependable. We were together for two years but had to split when both families did not agree nor give support to the relationship. They used ethnic difference as an excuse to have their way. Although sad, I guess it was for the best.

I was brought back to reality by a gentle breeze and the giggling of Mrs Johnson. "What could Mr Johnson be telling her now" I wondered. Feeling slightly nostalgic, I stood up and walked back to my flat.

This is my response to the first question on the #hivenaijaweeklyprompt #30.

Thank you

This would have been a beautiful love story but family stood in the way, sorry about that.

Oh no worries. It's all in the past.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.

There are times when family interferes and it doesn't change a thing.
When it does affect the relationship- it wasn't meant to be I guess. Thank goodness you have grown past it.

Yes there's truth to your words. Thank you so much
