While They Are Still Here

Hello beautiful people! I hope everyone is having a productive weekend. I am here again to share some thoughts that have been going through my mind for the past few days.

A Little Background
Have you ever noticed that there some people that would never extend a helping hand to someone in need, but the moment the needy person dies, such people show up and begin to spend outrageous amounts of money in order to organise what they would call a befitting burial? I don't know why this seems to be so normal to some people, but to me it feels so wrong.

Before You Misunderstand
I know perfectly well that no one has the right to tell anyone how to spend their money, and that is not what I am trying to do as well. But then, what exactly does someone hope to gain by spending huge amounts of money for funeral service for someone they never showed love and care, or paid any attention to before they died?

In My Own Opinion
Such people are only out to draw unnecessary attention to themselves and gain popularity, or so that other people will see them as Wealthy. They actually want to use such occasions to flaunt themselves as philanthropists.

In Some Other Cases
I have seen other situations where someone who was not even on speaking terms with another person would write long epistles in the name of tributes when that other person dies. Could it be that they are trying to make peace with the dead?

What I Stand For
If you ask me any day, I stand for loving, helping and caring for people particularly my loved ones while they are still here with me; not when they have gone to the great beyond. Why would I want to withhold my help from people that need it when it is in my power to do it? It doesn't even make sense at all.

I remember when I was still a very young child, one of the elderly women in my family would say to everyone of us, "That good you want to do to me, do it while I am still alive". Now that I have grown up, I can understand what she meant then.

It is possible that this kind of behaviour is not common in your town or city or country but I have seen it happen around me again and again, and I felt the need to cry out against it. This is even more annoying, when the dead person left kids behind that need to be taken care of. The funeral takes place, those that displayed their wealth go back to their lives and forget that there are still those the deceased left behind 😢 💔.

Everyday is an opportunity to do good to people around us while they are still here with us. I can't seem to shout it loud enough...

Thank you for reading to this point. I, @ngwinndave, wrote this post. The picture used in this post is a free-to-use image from pixabay.

Please, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section and I will get back to you. Thank you once again.

Thank you so much, @thoughtfulposts.

My dear, you aren't the only one who thinks that the show off that some people do during one's funeral is totally wrong.
I won't subscribe to one spending huge sums of money in giving a befitting burial to a deceased while they didn't even spend a dime on the person when they were alive.
It is really disheartening.

I agree with you. Don't do me good when I am no more because if I turn back and see what you called good I will send thunder to shatter everything.
I remember a man in my community who has wealthy people around him but the least they will send to him monthly is #10000 or whenever he is short of cash they will send him #2000.
This man was seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital for months his family who couldn't send a tangible amount of money for his monthly upkeep were able to pay #150000 for oxygen each day times 3 months before the man died.
When I heard about his death I was among those who cursed his family for being wicked.

This is so sad! And it is happening all around us... nothing but wickedness. Thanks for visiting and commenting, fellow dreemer.

You're welcome

As annoying as this is the rate at which it happens is unbelievable. I've lost count of instances where such occurred around me. It's nothing but selfish and wickedness. Some people will go as far as doing it to their biological parents. Really, it's nauseating!
