On Wednesday, Mrs. Denmarkguy and I are headed out-of-town for five days, to attend a smallish Festival in Oregon... both for the sake of taking a break, but also to be vendors there, with our creative endeavors.
Maybe that means we're not really taking a break?
Feels like a break because at least we'll be away from our usual surroundings for a few days.
I considered the possibility of blogging from the road a bit, but we're going to be camping in a place largely without electricity, and it also happens to be in a canyon where there is no cell service.
Maybe that's a good thing.
Maybe the Universe is trying to tell me something because even the solar device charger we ordered is back ordered until after we've left.
Sounds to me like the intention is to be out of touch.
Vending will be primarily cash, although we are bringing a portable card terminal, which we can take up to the county road at the end of each day where there's cell service, and we can do a "batch settlement" if we need to.
Commerce must go on. The terminal can go for about 48 hours between charges, so we'd only have to use the central organization's electrical outlets for one three hour period, maybe two.
We've been warned not to bug them too much. Fair enough.
To be honest, it has been more than a decade since I've been "festival camping." For Mrs. Denmarkguy, the last time was Burning Man, about 10 years back.
I'm grateful this is a somewhat smaller event... I don't have the bandwidth to stay sane around the energy of thousands of people for five days. I know some people really enjoy it... I'm not one of them.
The venue is a fairly natural spot of preserved old-growth forests and a couple of meadows... part of a private farm that rents out the facilities to "select groups."
For the most part, I'm just hoping to commune with nature as much as possible, take photographs and write in my paper journal.
Even though I don't feel particularly well prepared for this outing, I still think a change of scenery will be a good thing. Maybe I can even jump start myself out of my ruts and move forward with a little more energy and intention.
Time will tell!
In the meantime, I expect blogging to be pretty sporadic for the next 8-10 days.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead!
