Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing great. Here I go my first post in the Silver Bloggers Community. I've Been wanting to post here for quite some time. I'm thinking age wise I'm probably in the middle of the pack here at 50.
Today I'm going to share some photographs I took around my work place on an Air Force base I'm employed at. They will be those of a winter feel. Also I'm going to share what my plans are for my health in the upcoming days.
The sun rises and sun sets can be amazing here. In the winter when they show themselves can look all so cool with the covered white landscape. Above are two sun rises pictures I took today.
Above are some ice sickles that I took yesterday in front of my building. I shared them twice before on recent past posts. Here they have had longer to grow. The edge of the roof is 9 or 10 foot high. One of the ice sickles is just centimeters from touching the ground. It's kind of crazy to look out of window and see them inches away.
Here are some other buildings on the installation that also have ice sickles. Now these are not as impressive as the ones at my work center. Chances are they have knocked them down for safety reasons and are refirming or the conditions to manifest larger and longer ones wasn't there. I like the one that was dangling and facing inward.
Here I show you the amount of snow that are on some of the roofs. Many of the previous pictures with ice sickles showed it as well. Usually we see snow drifts on the ground on the roadways, ditches and other places. These building weren't built with the design to allow snow to fall off them. It's crazy to think there are snow drifts on the roof your working below.
There are times you hear a big boom and the whole building shakes. I compare it to a sound similar to a sonic boom. This is from the snow sliding down from a roof on another building we lay off the side from. You see there is a few feet drop from that roof to ours. When this happens most of the snow on the roof will fall onto the parking lot. It doesn't help that our roof is all metal.
It causes a great safety concern and we are told not to stand around the building at any time when there is snow on the roof. Yesterday a small amount fell off and almost buried a car driving by. The fallen snow will cover areas on the parking lot 20 feet away from the building. When I leave for the day I exit on one of the doors at the end of the building never the center door.
First two pictures are some ice sickles that were knocked down from the building before we left for work yesterday. The last two pictures are the growth in the last 24 hours. We have went without snow for three days but now it is currently snowing again. More to add to the 15 inches we have already received since last weekend.
So today I took the first step in investing in myself to a healthier me. I went to get blood drawn and gave a urine sample to my doctor's office. So next Wednesday the doctor will go over the results. Also I will bring up again issues I'm having with my right shoulder.
Yesterday while outside I threw an snowball in a shot put fashion at a co-worker thinking it wouldn't cause any pain. The pain was almost unbearable as it left my hand. Also it didn't go far. The last time I seen my doctor for it they gave me pain medicine. It really did nothing. The plan calls for physical therapy next but I'm going to ask if acupuncture is ok to try. My stubborn self will probably proceed with it anyways even though the doctor says its ok or not.
The other thing I need to do with the doctor is set up a colonoscopy. I have put it off too long and it is something that needs to be done even though I dread the thought of it.
Another thing I have set up is a dentist appointment. I lost a filling in one of my teeth and I really believe the same tooth has a root canal. I go into see them on the 22nd of this month. I'm really debating to just having it pulled, the cost to do a root canal procedure is really expensive. I have made it this long with all my teeth so what's one missing going to do at this point in my life. I tried to set up a cleaning but they are filled up to September!! So I'm on a waiting list to be called when a cancellation occurs.
Getting older I think we need to be a little more conscious of our health. Usually going to see the doctor I dread and admit I put it off on purpose. Sure there will be some expenses but in the long run health is wealth.
I hope you enjoyed the little bit of some winter scenes I shared. I'll try to post again here soon with what happens with all medical appointments and outcomes.
Take care, stay safe and have a great rest of your week. Until next time.
