Some Ice Sickles and investing in Myself

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing great. Here I go my first post in the Silver Bloggers Community. I've Been wanting to post here for quite some time. I'm thinking age wise I'm probably in the middle of the pack here at 50.

Today I'm going to share some photographs I took around my work place on an Air Force base I'm employed at. They will be those of a winter feel. Also I'm going to share what my plans are for my health in the upcoming days.

The sun rises and sun sets can be amazing here. In the winter when they show themselves can look all so cool with the covered white landscape. Above are two sun rises pictures I took today.

Above are some ice sickles that I took yesterday in front of my building. I shared them twice before on recent past posts. Here they have had longer to grow. The edge of the roof is 9 or 10 foot high. One of the ice sickles is just centimeters from touching the ground. It's kind of crazy to look out of window and see them inches away.

Here are some other buildings on the installation that also have ice sickles. Now these are not as impressive as the ones at my work center. Chances are they have knocked them down for safety reasons and are refirming or the conditions to manifest larger and longer ones wasn't there. I like the one that was dangling and facing inward.

Here I show you the amount of snow that are on some of the roofs. Many of the previous pictures with ice sickles showed it as well. Usually we see snow drifts on the ground on the roadways, ditches and other places. These building weren't built with the design to allow snow to fall off them. It's crazy to think there are snow drifts on the roof your working below.

There are times you hear a big boom and the whole building shakes. I compare it to a sound similar to a sonic boom. This is from the snow sliding down from a roof on another building we lay off the side from. You see there is a few feet drop from that roof to ours. When this happens most of the snow on the roof will fall onto the parking lot. It doesn't help that our roof is all metal.

It causes a great safety concern and we are told not to stand around the building at any time when there is snow on the roof. Yesterday a small amount fell off and almost buried a car driving by. The fallen snow will cover areas on the parking lot 20 feet away from the building. When I leave for the day I exit on one of the doors at the end of the building never the center door.

First two pictures are some ice sickles that were knocked down from the building before we left for work yesterday. The last two pictures are the growth in the last 24 hours. We have went without snow for three days but now it is currently snowing again. More to add to the 15 inches we have already received since last weekend.

So today I took the first step in investing in myself to a healthier me. I went to get blood drawn and gave a urine sample to my doctor's office. So next Wednesday the doctor will go over the results. Also I will bring up again issues I'm having with my right shoulder.

Yesterday while outside I threw an snowball in a shot put fashion at a co-worker thinking it wouldn't cause any pain. The pain was almost unbearable as it left my hand. Also it didn't go far. The last time I seen my doctor for it they gave me pain medicine. It really did nothing. The plan calls for physical therapy next but I'm going to ask if acupuncture is ok to try. My stubborn self will probably proceed with it anyways even though the doctor says its ok or not.

The other thing I need to do with the doctor is set up a colonoscopy. I have put it off too long and it is something that needs to be done even though I dread the thought of it.

Another thing I have set up is a dentist appointment. I lost a filling in one of my teeth and I really believe the same tooth has a root canal. I go into see them on the 22nd of this month. I'm really debating to just having it pulled, the cost to do a root canal procedure is really expensive. I have made it this long with all my teeth so what's one missing going to do at this point in my life. I tried to set up a cleaning but they are filled up to September!! So I'm on a waiting list to be called when a cancellation occurs.

Getting older I think we need to be a little more conscious of our health. Usually going to see the doctor I dread and admit I put it off on purpose. Sure there will be some expenses but in the long run health is wealth.

I hope you enjoyed the little bit of some winter scenes I shared. I'll try to post again here soon with what happens with all medical appointments and outcomes.

Take care, stay safe and have a great rest of your week. Until next time.

Winter! Hehe that looks exciting for us who don't have 😁😂

It can be than again it can be a pain 😂

You are right, taking care of your health must come first. I hope everything you mentioned will be ok. Now I understand how cold it is there. It looks like a real winter that we have hardly experienced here. This ice hanging from the roofs can be really dangerous. Hoping for warmer days there!😊

Thank you I really hope all goes well too. Yes last weekend we had temperatures with the wind chill that reached -40. So when I see 0° C Monday that will be a heat wave. I hope and think the coldest days are beyond us now here. 🌞

Welcome to the party! We both were in readcash and I have seen you around, so it is great you posted.

That weather is winter and just unthinkable for me! Here we have ice and some frost but no snow.

Hope all your doctor appointments work out, something that I should really do too! Yeah we men do put things off!

Thanks for the welcomes 😊 Yep the long gone readcash days.

The winter, well we were suppose to get a trace to two inches today Currently snowing confetti size flakes and we have our 2 inches already in one hour. Roads are a disaster.

Haha, yes us men put them off. Some of these things I should have taken care of months and years ago.

Snowyyyyyy, and those sickles what if they just suddenly fall in thr head, is it enough to knock someone down? Hahaha jusy curious, or maybe depends on the size of it no.

They can most certainly knock someone out or cause severe bodily harm. Rare but people have been killed by them, mostly children unfortunately. Size does matter!! Talking about ice sickles of course 😂

I also work in an air force base in my country unlike you here the heat is quite strong this year the weather was pretty crazy, good that you take time and money to invest in health.

Thank you. That is cool you work on an air force base as well. What work do you do? I do Logistics:)

It's important to invest in our health because in the long run we could spend much more or even worse shorten our life span

I work in the personnel office of the aviation police group,

As the saying goes, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Ohhh wow ice stalactites! I didn't even see them in Chicago because I wasn't there during the coldest weeks, but I've seen images now and the entire Midwest is half frozen! I hope all your medical appointments go great, we must take care of ourselves, being responsible for our health ourselves. (But we are very young ehhh😂) Take care dear amigo! 🤗💖

Ya half the country here is frozen, hehe. The appointments will turn into more appointments soon my calendar will be little full. Hopefully not too many more. Just like a typical guy Amiga waiting to go to seek medical advice led to many of this, haha.

Now i get it with the Ice Cream Creations... hahaha. Some nice "lollipops" you got there. And welcome to the bunch of wise "ol' farts".

Haha "ol' farts" thanks for the welcome. I wasn't thinking I've cream when I was snapping icicles I guess you could incorporate it into a frozen treat. With that the water it would be disgusting coming off that older metal roof though, haha

One thing I’m glad we don’t have is ice dams gigantic icicles anymore lol we had them for a few years but they fixed the gutters and stuff so now we don’t get them. Dangerous for sure!

I’m glad that you’re doing some blood work and investing in yourself. It’s best for not only you but your son! Gotta stay healthy for the kiddo!

Acupuncture is definitely a good option! I know we chatted about it a bit but it’s not expensive and it’s non-surgical which is important. Have you looked to see if there’s places nearby that do acupuncture? Hopefully you have some!

Good luck on the blood work one of the things I would make sure to do is have them check your vitamin D and B levels. Those are totally underrated but such crucial parts of our health and well-being! It’s pretty easy to supplement to get them up to good levels too if they are low.

Yes damns can have huge icicles some waterfalls too (haha I misspelt)

Oh yes there are many acupuncture places to choose from. A co-worker went to one that accepts our insurance and had some good experiences there. So not a lot of homework to be done there. I just hope it's not something tore that needs surgery.

Oh the blood work covers both and a slough of others things. I have had lower vitamin B levels in the past, I use to take supplements for that. They were good the last time I was checked.

That's great that you have acupuncture nearby but also some personal reference to one! That's a big hurdle sometimes, finding a decent one.

Fingers crossed you don't need surgery too man! I know they will likely need to do an MRI to really diagnose it, that's the best way to visualize tears and such. They could start with an ultrasound too though, so there's that if they do tell you they need to do imaging!

Yup Wednesday will lead to some answers, decisions and a way forward. Though I know most doctors are against acupuncture and even chiropractors.

Btw a tooth gone is cheeper and piece of mind not worrying something is still lurking in my body. Still thinking of that sterile tooth that was suppose to be completely rid of the bad things that still caused all those rabbits problems.

Yeah when it comes to root canal - that documentary was crazy lol. There’s a bunch of reasons why removing the tooth is a lot better! We have options for sealing it up too I think they talked about it.

If you do get it pulled - make sure they get the whole thing and the ligament or whatever that keeps the tooth in there. They are usually good about that but can’t hurt to remind them :D

It's crazy how expensive the procedure is. I'll post what it will cost out of pocket soon once I go. I'm sure they won't like my decision to yank.

For me that haven't experience snow thought it was fun and amazing. I never thought that it could be dangerous as well. Stay safe and I hope your test results are all fine♥️.

Snow brings good and bad like a lot of things. Thanks for the wishes, I appreciate that ☺️
