Hello Silver Bloggers. The view above was from my car shortly after posting for the first time in this community. It was a late Thursday afternoon and the snow was falling so thick that even my simply smart phone was able to capture it. It was quite the challenge to capture these as I had to shut off my windshield wipers. I was waiting at my son's highschool to pick him up from basketball practice. On the drive home on the interstate I witnessed two cars in the ditch. One of which was on its side buried in a large snow bank. I so wanted to take some pictures of that just for you all but I didn't want to be #3, haha.

Before I start with my Friday, Saturday and beyond that I just want to say I'm glad I finally posted here. It's nice to be in company with others that have something in common, age of wisdom! What a great place to share things in life with other Silver Bloggers who are going through or have gone through some of the same things. I really think I will learn, listen and receive advice if needed. I hope I can also be someone that can do that for others. We're alive & kicking, not giving up and rolling over!

Well Friday was a full day of work. My son's school was cancelled and I thought he would not be having a basketball game that evening. I was wrong and I'll come back to that in a bit.

It was not a very busy day at work. Much of it involved throwing salt around entrance ways into my building, shoveling snow, knocking down icicles and even lining up buckets in the hallways because we had some leaks. I did take some time for lunch at a new Filipino restaurant.

I got the the tip from a co-worker who had been there a few mornings ago for coffee. He mentioned there coffee was really good. He never went there to eat so I took a chance on their food being as good as there coffee. Also I remember think, brain a little foggy awhile ago the owners being interviewed on the news about their grand opening.

At first I was a little worried because there was only two others eating at the restaurant. I was a little annoyed by the guy who took my order. He was buried in his phone and seemed bothered I 0was there to order. His response wasn't what can I help you with? or what would you like to order? It was a one word response, "Yes." Well a picture says a thousand words, I decided to take a picture of the front area where the menu is posted. I wasn't planning to capture him buried in his phone, there's my confirmation, haha.

I ordered the chicken pancit with lumpia combo. I thought it was expensive for not much of a variety for $13. Hey maybe I'll get lucky with a giant plate of it. He than asked if I wanted it to go or if I was staying. I told him I was staying. I forgot to order a drink but I would have just got a water. That was also shocking that he didn't ask.

I received my food from one of the cooks in the back in a plastic bag with a to go box and plastic utensils. Maybe since the bag wasn't tied it met to dine in. It wasn't a mistake because I seen the others eating from to go containers. What do you do? I began eating it and the taste was not all that good. It was luke warm at best and the pansit was like it was cut down short. The lumpia was ok certainly have had much better. So the overall experience was that I got duped in both quantity and quality. That's ok I have another Filipino place where the customer service, quantity and quality are off the charts.

Maybe this place needs to consider not serving food. They do have a lot of different kinds of coffee but they weren't serving them at this time. Also a lot of alcoholic beverages for sale and beer to order from the front counter. If I would have had a better experience I might have walked and checked on those things more closely.

I didn't finish all my food and not once was I checked on by anyone. When I got up to throw my food away there were three employees at the counter. You think one of them would have said thanks and have a good day? Nope not a single one of them. Will I even go back to try their coffee? A hard hell no!!

So I didn't find out until mid afternoon that my son was having a game. His game was a 7:00 p.m. and was about 100 miles away. My car is banged up and the roads aren't the best so I didn't travel to watch. I thought I will just watch it for free on a live feed. Game starts and can't find the live feed. The game was over by the time I found it. Fornately I was able to scroll the time thingy to the beginning.

His team won but my son was a little moody with his performance. He had his lowest point total of the season with 13 points. As parents we need to encourage our kids and I think I did a good job at that. I simply told him you picked a good night to not maintain your average because the team still won. I also asked him how many players on his team have scored that amount of points. If your wondering that answer is just 3 others. I believe that conversation changed is attitude and his whole thought process.

Today (my Saturday) I started off with a small little breakfast. What you see above is an egg omelette scramble with green peppers, mushrooms, black olives and cheese melted over the top. I also diced up a banana and had two sausage patties.

What's in the black bowl? That's left over rice from Chinese I picked up the day before. I added a little water, some butter to it, covered it and microwaved it for 40 seconds. After that I added a little salt and pepper to it. Not going to mention any names but there are two individuals that always hound me about why no rice, haha.

Asides from dropping off than picking my son up from basketball practice this morning I've been at home all day. Now I sit here watching some playoff American Football 🏈 The rest of my afternoon and evening will include that.

Looking ahead to next week I have a lot going on. I got two doctor appointments so far on Monday and Wednesday. My son has basketball games on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. The first two are out of town and the last one is a home game. I hope I can attend all three of them. Right now my work schedule is clear and the weather here is forecasted to be warm.

Some of you know I have a new community called Ice Cream Creations. I have been busy trying to build it up by checking out articles that use tags that relate to it. I really appreciate those that have showed love by promoting it as well. I launched it the first weekend of this month and feel it hasn't reached everyone.

I'm not one that likes to promote things for myself but here I am doing it, sorry. I plan to give you some fun with this community and really it's for everyone not me at all. I'm currently running it's first writing competition for it. Not required, but if it's something that interest you stop by if you choose. Here is the link to the community: https://peakd.com/c/hive-187379/created

That's all this guy has for you today. Take care, stay safe and enjoy what's left of your weekend. Until next time!

Ohh too bad1 Since they just opened, they should have the best customer service to attract more loyal customers. Looking at that pansit bihon, I don't like it also, it looks bland. It's too expensive just for that quantity and taste, well ingredients there were costly, is it really worth the price? lol. They should have added more cabbages and carrots at least haha.

Well my favorite Filipino place I usually go to has a Buffett for $13 something. Things may be more expensive here but that shouldn't be that expensive for that quantity. Plus they absolutely didn't make up for it in service and taste. Yes very bland and I didn't like the real short length of the noodles. They have been open for a few months now. If it was good it would be packed, should have known better. Tuesday I get redemption and go back to my Filipino ace in the hole.

Nice, you finally have some nice amount of snow ❄️ 🤩

No good about the food in that place though. Going by your description, not friendly stuff, small portions in take away boxes and not even tasty, I wouldn’t go back there either, not even for a coffee 😂

Yeah the last week or so 18 inches of snow...

It was disappointing lunch experience. You can't have good ones all the time. Yup even though they got good reviews of coffee the first impression is the nail in the coffin for them.

Was it really bad the pancit and lumpia? Lol, Filipino food makes me hungry and I miss eating it.

The pansit...I didn't think one could mess that up. The lumpia was okay.

I see. Last month, I went to visit a Filipino truckfood and they also messed up with the pancit.

I should have walked out when I noticed the place was almost empty of people. That guy though not very good at making the place feel welcome. I think I overheard him on his phone talking about representing at some food exhibit. I don't think there was a time his hand wasn't on his phone.

Looks like the business is new and he needs to contact several food fairs to market his business.

Perhaps but they need to take care of any customers that come in

yeah, he forgot customer service.

I wonder if the owner is really Filipino. I see that the worker isn't. I guess they don't know how to handle food business. First impression really lasts. Sorry about this experience. And yeah i felt ashamed a bit and and angry that tge best foods in our country were not represented well.

The two cooks I seen were Filipino. I believe the white guy is married to the female cook. The other cook appears to be her father. It much has the feel of a beverage place for coffee and bruskie drinking.

And yeah i felt ashamed a bit and and angry that tge best foods in our country were not represented well.

My favorite place is another Filipino restaurant. They represent your country very well and the Hawaiian cuisine. There they are all about thier customers needs and wants.

Sorry to know your bad experience... Maybe their chef isn't good haha.. Filipinos are usually polite.. I should work there so I could greet you haha..

I was shocked much different than the place I usually go to. Haha that would be experience you serving me 😂 Much more expensive and you don't even get rice with some of the entries. Speaking of rice I incorporated it my breakfast this morning 😊

I'll serve you extra rice haha

Of course you would, my life would be rice 🍚 haha

Why I feel so ashame by the service in that Filipino Restaurant. Why open a resto if they will act that way. Is it the employee or the owner? Or both? Are they Pilipino? Ahhh, i'm curious. They are newly open but seems like they want to close it down immediately 😫😆. But seriously though, Pancit and Lumpia is the best combination. Especially if it's newly cook and the smell from it is spreading.

Well I only seen 3 people. The white guy and two cooks which we're both Filipino. I think the white guy is married to the one cook and the other cook is her father.

I don't know maybe too much going on. A coffee shop in morning and the bar thing. If I wasn't irritated I would have checked out the coffee and alcohol labels because of curiosity to see if they were Filipino. Well I still have the other place I adore.

It's sad that you experience that eating that Filipino foods, aside from unfriendly staff, the foods are not that good.

Yes very unfortunate oh well. I've had good Filipino food and know where to go next time 😊
