Bon Apetit!

To feel that you are useful to others, to transmit knowledge, to do for others what they did for you, to give without expecting anything in return, all these phrases are the ones that come to my mind to start this publication.
The other phrase that also fits is gratitude and I am going to tell you why.

Sentir que eres útil a los demás, transmitir conocimiento, hacer por los demás lo mismo que hicieron por ti, dar sin esperar nada a cambio, todas estas frases son las que vienen a mi cabeza para dar inicio a esta publicación.
La otra frase que también cabe es agradecimiento y ya les voy a comentar porque.

For some time now a good friendship has been growing with Noraida, she and I have become good friends since we started to get to know each other more. Together we got to know each other little by little as we encouraged each other to exercise. That feeling of friendship, companionship, complicity, union, all that and more is what I feel when we meet.

Desde hace un tiempo ha ido naciendo una buena amistad con Noraida, ella y yo nos hemos vuelto buenas amigas desde que comenzamos a tratarnos más. Juntas nos fuimos conociendo de a poco mientras nos animábamos mutuamente para hacer ejercicios. Esa sensación de amistad, de compañerismo, complicidad, unión, todo eso y más es lo que siento cuando nos encontramos.

One day while we were talking she asked me if I liked Sushi and of course I said yes. Well that day she made a promise that when she came back she was going to give me some to try. I remember the night before my Christmas trip she came to my house at about 8 pm with a tray of sushi for my whole family. But the best of all is that he had made it especially for me and that is something that makes me feel excited because we all know that sushi is something expensive and not everyone makes something like that.

Un día mientras conversábamos me preguntó si me gustaba el Sushi y por supuesto que le dije que sí. Pues ese día ella hizo la promesa que cuando volviera hacer me iba a dar para probar. Recuerdo que la noche antes de i viaje de navidad me llegó a la casa como a las 8 de la noche con una bandeja de sushi para toda mi familia. Pero lo mejor de todo es que lo había hecho especialmente para mí y eso es algo que me hace sentir emocionada ya que todos sabemos que el sushi es algo costoso y no todo el mundo hace algo así.

We happily dined with him and it wasn't until I returned that I was able to thank him personally and give him my opinion. The sushi was delicious, it was as if I had bought it in a store or restaurant.

She and I made a commitment that day that someday she would teach me, I just had to wait a little while to have the money to go shopping together to a place she was going to take me.

Nosotros muy alegres cenamos con aquello y no fue sino hasta mi regreso que le pude agradecer personalmente y darle mi opinión. El sushi estaba riquísimo, era como si lo hubiese comprado en una tienda o restaurant.

Ella y yo hicimos ese día el compromiso de que algún día me iba a enseñar, solo debía esperar un poco para tener el dinero para irnos juntas de compras a un lugar que ella me iba a llevar.

The day arrived and with money in hand we went to Caracas, to the Asia Gourmet Marquet, which is located on the side of the countryside, near PDVSA.

I can only tell you that when you approach this supermarket you are left with your mouth open because the whole area is surrounded by restaurants, wineries, popular market, sports fields and Asian decoration all over the street. From what I could find out, people like to visit the popular market on Sundays because it offers many fresh products at good prices and good quality.

El día llegó y con dinero en mano nos fuimos a Caracas, al Asia Gourmet Marquet, que está ubicado por los lados de la campiña, cerca de PDVSA.

Solo les puedo decir que cuando te vas acercando a este supermercado te vas quedando con la boca abierta ya que todo el sector está rodeado de restaurantes, bodegas, mercado popular, canchas deportivas y decoración asiática por toda la calle. Por lo que pude averiguar a la gente le gusta visitar el mercado popular los domingos ya que ofrece muchos productos frescos a buen precio y de buena calidad.

Well, that day she taught me the little or much she knows about the basic materials and utensils necessary for the preparation of the much desired sushi.

I of course felt like a fish in water, there were all kinds of sauces, bread, seaweed, rice, crab, pans, chopsticks, spices, among others.

Pues bien, ese día ella me enseño lo poco o mucho que sabe en cuanto a materiales básicos y utensilios necesarios para la elaboración del tan anhelado sushi.

Yo por supuesto me sentía como pez en el agua, había de todo tipo de salsas, panco, algas, arroz, cangrejo, sartenes, palillos, especias, entre otros.

I remember my son bought some of those noodles that appear in the movies and as soon as he got home he started cooking them, but I can't tell you what they taste like because he forgot to give them to his mother. 🤣😂😅🤣😂😅

I went home with a little bit of everything and that same night we went to the kitchen to learn.

Recuerdo que mi hijo se compró unos fideos de esos que salen en las películas y apenas llegó a la casa los puso a cocinar, pero no les puedo contar a que saben porque se le olvido darle a su madre. 🤣😂😅🤣😂😅

Yo me fui a casa con un poquito de todo y esa misma noche nos metimos a la cocina para aprender.

Last time in another post I explained in detail how it went step by step, so today I just want to focus on what's behind that first post or that first experience.

I'm not going to lie, yes, it's expensive! But cheaper than going to a restaurant. With the ones I bought that day I spent about 20 dollars, the truth is that my friend solved quite a few things for me, but that day we ate a lot and it was left for a second preparation which I did the following Sunday with some members of my family and friends.

Ya la vez pasada en otra publicación expliqué a detalle como fue el paso a paso, así que hoy solo me quiero enfocar en lo que hay detrás de ese primer post o esa primera experiencia.

No les voy a mentir, ¡Sí! ¡Es costoso! Pero más barato que ir a un restaurant. Con los que compré aquel día gasté unos 20 dólares, la verdad es que mi amiga me resolvió bastantes cosas, pero ese día comimos bastante y quedó para una segunda preparación la cual hice el domingo siguiente con algunos integrantes de mi familia y amigos.

My family couldn't believe it! They were eating sushi made by my own hands! The comments were good, they said they loved it and that if I had told them that I had made it, they would have thought I had bought it at any restaurant. Imagine that comment! That made me feel happy and joyful.

¡Mi familia no se la podía creer! ¡Estaban comiendo sushi hecho por mis propias manos! Los comentarios fueron buenos, decían que les había encantado y que si nos hubiese dicho que los había hecho yo, entonces hubiesen pensado que los había comprado por ahí en cualquier restaurant. ¡Imagínense ese comentario! Con eso me sentía dichosa y feliz.

This is where I felt so grateful to God, to my friend, to my husband who bought the things, to everyone for coming to eat. And how could I not be grateful! My friend Noraida taught me and now I was the one sharing and teaching others.

Aquí es donde viene el agradecimiento tan grande que sentía con Dios, con mi amiga, con mi esposo que compro las cosas, con todos por venir a comer. ¡Y como no estar agradecida! Mi amiga Noraida me enseñó y ahora era yo al que estaba compartiendo y enseñando a los demás.

In the picture is my niece making some of the rolls, but my husband, my children and my brother-in-law came by. Everyone wanted to do and learn.

That night I went to bed happy and grateful. I only hope I can continue to improve my technique, especially with the rice, which is a little complicated since it must be cooked so that the roles don't fall apart. I would also like to learn to use the panco more, so that it doesn't come off so much when frying.

En la imagen esta mi sobrina haciendo algunos enrollados pero por aquí pasaron mi esposo, mis hijos y mi cuñado. Todos querían hacer y aprender.

Esa noche me acosté feliz y agradecida. Yo solo espero poder seguir perfeccionándola técnica, sobre todo con el arroz que es un poquito complicado ya que debe tener uh punto de cocción para que los roles no se desarmen. También me gustaría aprender a usar más el panco, para que no se despegue tanto al momento de sofreír.

But anyway, here I am, I already know how to make my own sushi and all thanks to that wonderful friend that God put in my way, who gives me her friendship and sincere affection. I pray to God that this friendship lasts for many years and that we continue to be accomplices in the good times and the not so good times.

Pero en fin, aquí estoy, ya se hacer mi propio sushi y todo gracias a esa amiga maravillosa que Dios puso en mi camino, que me brinda su amistad y su cariño sincero. Le pido a Dios que esa amistad dure muchos años y que sigamos siendo cómplices en las buenas y las no tan buenas.
