Manchester City moved into second position in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Liverpool, thanks to a hat-trick from Phil Foden in a comfortable victory over Brentford last night. The game ended (1-3) in favour of the Cityzens. That was the only Monday night football in the EPL.
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from England. He finds out that on this day in 1952, Elizabeth II, who celebrated her Golden Jubilee in 2002, ascended the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, following the death of her father, King George VI.
From the England, Larry goes to China. He finds out that on this day in 1611, Chongzhen, the 16th and final emperor (1627-44) of the Ming dynasty, was born in Beijing.
From China, Larry goes to New Zealand. He finds out that on this day in 1840, the Maori tribes of New Zealand signed the Treaty of Waitangi with Great Britain, a historic agreement that professed to preserve Maori rights and served as the immediate basis for British annexation of New Zealand.
From New Zealand, Larry goes to Jamaica. He finds out that on this day in 1945, Bob Marley, a Jamaican singer-songwriter who rose to prominence by combining early ska, rocksteady, and reggae styles into an electric rock-influenced hybrid, was born in Nine Miles, St. Ann, Jamaica. Happy birthday to the "One Love" crooner.
From Jamaica, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 2018, SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket took its first test flight, and on board was a Tesla automobile owned by SpaceX's founder, Elon Musk.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the UN. He finds out that on this day in 1964, Emilio Aguinaldo, a Filipino leader and politician who fought for the Philippines independence, first against Spain and later against the United States, died in Quezon City.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
