Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!
The Symphony Of A Gear!
Well here we are again with another transmission! Although this one is a fairly easy one to manage, we actually worked on this specific one a couple of months ago and it drove about 40000 kilometers and now we've got it back again due to some shifting problem it had!
This could be multiple things, things such as the gear links, the actual gear housing, the clutch or even the synchro's inside the transmission!
We decided on pulling it out and opening it up!
A Closer Look!
Well at this point I have already inserted all of the gear shafts along with the differential gear, it's that insane big one. Which isn't actually that big at all.
I've also already inserted the the gear selectors onto the gear shafts, heck that was a tricky business to get them to stick and not fall off in 10 seconds xD Laughs!
To say it plain we opened it up for nothing, there wasn't any damage inside the the transmission and in fact it was in the gear link housing, rather go through everything than have the customer returning yet again. So we went through everything we did on the job.
That's only fair right?
Just Prop It Up There.
Here's the funny thing, people think it's much easier to get these open than it really is and it's not hard at all if you think about it a little. Like if you genuinely think about it it's way too easy for life.
The hard part is that it's a tricky thing to pull of most of the time, but more than everything you have to have patience and a lot of it.
Too much actually!
Double Check The Double Check!
Especially if it's a real easy job, real easy to double check! Well why not then?
I built it up to the top and I only fitted two bolts into the bellhousing and added no silicone sealer at all, the reason for this is that after you've assembled it into this piece it can be easily torn off at the otherside for inspection!
If you're able to and you're not doing it then you're cheating yourself? Like let me put it this way, if you have the right tools for the job and you don't use them.. then who is losing!
In Order!
Of-course nothing was wrong, you'd know if you messed up long before you're even able to close up the transmission! That's the truth of it, but there is always that what if... That what if that I didn't have now though!
She can be closed up and ready to be fitted back into the vehicle! We'll see how she drives when she's done!
