Welcome to my rant:
Arteta, is and always has been a stubborn and sometimes deluded spec of a manager.
I have made no secret of the fact that he wasn't the right manager to replace Unai Emery.
No Premier league management experience and sitting beside Pep Guardiola for 4 years nodding approvingly, does not make you a manager.
He managed to off-load players whom he tagged as bad influences including a goal scoring giant in former captain, Aubameyang.
To his credit, he looked like he was starting to build a decent squad of players but unfortunately failed to address cover for Saliba and ultimately, it cost us the PL.
But, suddenly we had a platform to build on and only looked short of a quality CM and world class striker. Rice was and still is an excellent signing but Arteta's pathetic purchase of Havertz for £65 million, destroyed all the good work.
Let me handover to another person, who continues his rant from where I stopped:
"His obsession with trying to justify his[Harvetz] price tag and salary, ultimately cost us the PL last season, as in 7 of the 9 PL matches we dropped points, he played him in midfield.
Surely, he would learn from this?
"No, I'm going to buy another left back, a Spanish midfielder who prior to the Euros had done nothing, a goal keeper and the totally useless Sterling as a panic loan.
No cover for Odegaard (Although Nawari could have) no cover for Saka who was always going to end up with s bad injury when Arteta wouldn't rest him, but the biggest travesty and incompetence, was Artetas failure to bring inva world class proven striker/goal scorer.
"Why? I will tell you why.
If he had brought in a Sesko or Gyokeres, where does he play his golden boy Havertz? He tried him in midfield last season and it cost us the title, he's tried him as a10 when Odegaard was out, it didn't work. He tried him wide, he's ineffective. So he would have to bench him, and that ain't happening.
His poor decisions and failure to buy players we needed, is nothing less than gross negligence.
"It's obviously clear he has no respect or interest in the fans.
He has never connected with us, and constantly comes out with ridiculous excuses which is turning us into laughing stock.
We've gone from being the most exciting team to watch, and who other teams fans wanted to win the PL, to a boring ineffective
offensive team who now rely on set pieces.
"Sakas absence has highlighted Odegaards ineffectiveness when he's not playing.
He's looked a shadow of the player before his injury and couldn't hit a barn door.
Apart from the FA cup which was won with Emerys team/squad, he's had five years, been backed financially more than any other manager in our history, and build his own squad and all he has managed is to blow two PL titles, and a couple of CL qualifications.
And he gets a new contract paying him £15 million a year!
"How can any real and ambitious fans continue to back him?
The real worry and what I predicted last sending is if we can't win trophies we're going to lose our talismen like Saliba and Saka.
Strangely neither were bought in by Arteta!"
Phew
