The Slight Cooling Problem (Loving German Engineering)

Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!

The S-Line!

Oh baby! I do love these S-Line Audi's! They aren't that much different but for some reason they are sought after, well me personally if this was just a simple A5 I would be just as happy!

I think the S-Line Audi's are all quattro's and the A5 standard are just front wheel driven, more than often with a CVT and that is a transmission you don't want!
Headaches upon headaches! Not this one though! This is a nice one to work with!

Easy to find the faults! Hard to get to them! But finding them is one thing and getting to them is another!

To The Belly Of The Beast!

Now before we rug pull the entire transmission out of here! Let's see if this isn't a simple wiring board problem or even the solenoid that runs the temperatures on the transmission!

What this one is doing is it's giving a cooling problem but there isn't actually an overheating of anything at all! Bossman tested it and said it gave a fault code and constantly gives the same code over and over but the vehicle appears to be driving fine!

So swapping it out is the first shit show of the day!

A Clean Belly!

Seems we do a good job! We worked on this vehicle about a year and a half ago and now it's giving this problem!

One thing is for sure there is nothing wrong with the mechanics of the transmission! Absolutely nothing! The reason I say this is because the oil we drained out of it looks like it was poured in yesterday! It looks as golden as the day it was bottled up!

That is not something I am familiar with! Must be this guy just cruises around and never stomps on the gas! The best way to care for maintenance right!

So let's get her out of there!

A Total Removal!

This must be the only downside of working on these valve-bodies/megatronics, the fact that you have to completely remove everything before you can get access to all the nitty gritty stuff that actually gives problems! Now I am sure there is a reason for that but could they not just add some of them down on the underside at-least?

Maybe I am whack but I feel that is much better! Drain the oil, remove the sump pan and remove whatever gives problems! Easy! Job done!

Nah you've got to remove that entire block from the transmission and figure out what you have to deal with!

The Swap Out Is Quick!

Oh damn! All this work for a simple swap out that takes less than three minutes!

Crazy right! CRAZY!

Whelp it is what it is!

The thing here is it can be one of two things or it can be two things!
Either the conductor plate on top of the solenoids giving power to everything or the solenoid itself!

So let's swap out both and see what we've got!

The solenoid we had to swap out!

We did eventually have to remove the valve-body again to swap out the conductor plate again and that was where the problem lay, sad that we fitted an already broken conductor plate! My bad!

Anyways the conductor plate swap out did the trick and the car is driving... well like it used to because it only gave an electric fault!
