Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!
The Joy Of Driving A Fixed Car!
Now I can tell you one thing! Fixing up the car and fixing up everything and more that didn't need to be fixed was definitely worth it! More than worth it!
Most people just replace what needs replacing (Those desperate parts! If something isn't broken they simply wont replace it! If one shock gave in why fix both when the other is still fine? Like why?)
That just isn't my belief and take that from someone that works on cars daily! Have to have it perfect and that will increase the longevity of everything!
I Told You!
One thing that really ticks me off is fitting everything back in dirty!
I cleaned out even the wheel arches and everything as deep as I could! I mean it would have absolutely no effect because driving over the first dirt road would well dirten everything up again! But the idea of it all is comforting to say the least?
Now I can re-fit everything with comfort and a huge smile on my face!
Never Part Of The Plan!
So I've inspected my shocks quite a few times and never have I ever seen the leakage on the shocks! The main reason for this is that I drive on a dirt road daily so the shock oil never drips off it is dried out by sand and then the sand will fall off never exposing the oil leaks!
This means that no matter how hard you can inspect your car sometimes you just can't see the real damage until you've removed the parts entirely!
Oh I think the biggest thing I was keen on fitting was the control arms! With them fitted this vehicle will already be driving like a new one!!
Of-course the shocks were needed and replacing them would surely make this car drive like I am driving in a dream!
The Parts Not Needed!
So this was the parts that I replaced that didn't need replacing! I did however keep the old swaybar links because they were still good and that is something that can help me out in a dire time when or if I ever hit a pothole and they decide on snapping!
Oh they snap real easy!
The downside is I spent money on something that didn't need replacing but they were tighter than the old ones and that adds the odd percentage you need for a full clock to drive better!
(Always go the extra mile! Especially when it's for your own stuff!)
The Concern!
So I did notice my auto transmission being a little jerky at times and since I've fixed up everything it has been driving as smooth as can be!
Some may say the idea of me thinking this is foolish! But most of my bushes on everything was worn and I have replaced everything making every little bump smooth out!
Now when I removed my wheelhubs I noticed they were packed full of dirt and the dirt got trapped between the magnet on the wheel speed sensor and the sensor it self!
This meant that it might have messed around with the speed readings on the vehicle making the hard downshift at low speeds! I know it sounds ridicilous but it might very well be! Seeing that it's a manual concept auto!
I tell you this was the case because the problems are smoothed out now!
The Last Line Of Safety!
Of-course the brakes! We had to do them! They were the most messed up!
There isn't much to say about the brakes other than well I did them and I am superbly glad I did! They were wonky for a few days but I had to brake softly for them to bed in nicely to the old marks!
Sweet stuff!
The Last Concern!
So I went ahead and cleaned out my cooling system after I threw in stop leak a few years ago as a mistake! My biggest regret on this car!
I bought some radiator flush and flushed out the entire system about three times! Well worth it! I struggled a great deal to clean the water bottle! I eventually got it cleaned out perfectly! (Nope I didn't get any photos of the cleaned out bottle! Sadly!)
But now I can drive in peace! I have one more little problem! That is that the water bottle has hairline cracks in it! I only noticed this after my uncle who does work for Ford told me I have to check because it is a common problem on them!
Well time was short and I had no other choice than to re-fit the water bottle again and hope it holds up until next year! I'll order one and keep it in the car until something unimaginable happens! Laughs!
