Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!
The Ones Of Old!
Now this is something very foreign but also not that much!
The truck it self, well I've never in my life ever worked on something this old! But the engine and transmission wise I have worked on quite a few! They have the same builds as those policy Nyalas back last year and all that!
So I am familiar with that!
But let's see what is going on here!
I have to pull that thing out of there! Yeahp the transmission! The clutch got buggered up and now it's our baby! Which is more than fair if you ask me!
We only lent the truck from a company! We didn't pay a dime, except for well the stuff we broke! We had a building demolished and we had to get the building rubble away from the sight so we borrowed the truck and it did a few hauls for us and bam! THE CLUTCH BROKE!
Literally broke into a great bunch of pieces! It was a hassle I can tell you that!
I was picking up these springs for days after the repair! It really had a bad break!
A Big Irritation!
This is part of the job I know! BUT this thing really had me ticked off at some point!!
See it's an easy to remove piece! Very easy actually but having everything greased up and oiled up is a totally different ball game right! Grabbing a hold of something just to have it slide around in your palm is a crappy feeling!
Now I did eventually get it off! But I had to calm myself a lot before that happened!
Strapped And Secured!
Well this is a odd transmission and one that can't sit in a upright position by itself!
So I took extra care to strap this thing to the transmission jack and have it secured! If this thing falls off this jack and onto my leg or even my face it would without a doubt be crushed and buggered up!
Ain't no way I am going to risk that! No way!
Thumbs up for a secured load!
The Problem Thing!
Now there is the problem child! The real mess maker!
Not sure if you can see past the release bearing and all that but the clutch plate itself is completely ripped apart on the inside!
The insanely massive load of bricks must have been way too much for the clutch to bear! Actually it gave in after dropping the load!
Weird right!
A Nice shredder if you push your finger into that right!
It just kept on spinning and spinning till there was not a thing left!
The Fly-wheel aswell!
Now it's not just the clutch that isn't all up there anymore! It's the fly-wheel as well!
Notice all those small cracks on it! Well those are not good at all for it! Not sure why they form but what I do know is that once that happens it is best to get yourself a new fly-wheel!
This one will only be skimmed clean!
Collected!
Well I just had to do a collection run of all the springs and part that fell out while we towed the truck into the yard!
I wanted to go and hand them all over to bossman so that he can be real proud of himself for screwing this one up!
The Offerings!
Now this is likely the biggest downside of working on a diesel truck! It's nasty and it is always nasty! But that's life I suppose we all do what we have to do!
Whether it is getting dirty or staying clean the struggle is always REAL!
