So, while fishing, you need to carry a measuring tape to measure the size precisely!! Pretty weird law!!
What's the logic of not keeping those bigger than 32 inches?

Yes, we have to have a way to measure the fish we catch. Mine is a piece of thin fiberglass with the sizes I need cut into it, it started at ten inches and goes to 32 but now we can not keep any 10 each fish so that one is obsolete. This is it by my feet. This trout was right on 24 inches so I could keep it, trout have to be between 15 and 24. Sport fishermen can keep one over 24, but not commercial fishermen.
There are a lot of rich people who live here or are tourists and many love to fish, they do not care about the fish, they want a picture of themselves with it. I call it bragging rights.
The State of FL wants to make it easy for them to catch this fish and throw it back, even if it is half dead from keeping it out of the water too long so they could get the right picture. Florida wants this kind of fisherman because when he is not buying fishing equipment, he is spending a lot of money elsewhere in FL. This State is all about who has the most money and how can they get part of it. They do not care what they have to harm to get it.
Look at the beach renourishment they do, it sounds good but they are killing the reef because the sand they keep dumping is washed out and covering the reefs, but the tourist and beachfront homeowners can enjoy a beautiful sandy beach. They are trying to control the natural way things are to be, beach erosion has been going on forever, is it worth the price of the reefs to save a home that should not have been built there?
Sorry about all of that, these things light a fire in me.
