Spells for forgetting is a spooky mystery murder telling the way this book is set on a creepy island just says it all.
After fourteen years August is back after being hiding to bury his loved one but of course there’s always going to be drama on the island with other residents. Apparently people have not forgiven him the way he left after the murder of Lily, Emerys best friends. Again there’s always going to be secrets among friendships during these difficult times not knowing the known information about your best friend when she discovers the unforgettable truth about Lily.. when she’s trying to move on with her life. August being back on island just brings her back these emotions. Which honestly isn’t fair at all for her.
What I found interesting the way that Emery finds these letters in attic she finds there’s more to the murder and more secrets she wishes not known but she has to know what happened to her best friend which in a way is understandable but can also lead you in great danger for things like this as you never know what truth you wanna hear.
The story line of this like I could not put this down it was a little tad slow to begin with knowing the characters and worldbuilding / mystery in all this but once you got over the hurdle it’s worth knowing more I get some parts were slow but I guess in scenes it’s setting the pace which honestly for this book I don’t mind it all as wanna take it all in.
When I was known to learn that Lily was pregnant when she died must of been very traumatic for her like what the he’ll? I didn’t expect that to happen or to be revealed.
I did like in the book that we had a flashback between emery and august in their past when they were all friends before the fire happened I loved that now it’s all gone down hill between them all after Lily.
The fact that towards the end it for sure kept you on your toes about who is the culprit behind the murder who who set the fire it took me couple days reading it but it certainly did not dissapoint in any way.
THE WAY IT WAS REVEALED SHE DID DARK MAGIC GO WRRONG!!, hello!!?? I didnt expect that i know she had issues with Emery leaving with August wanted he cursed but dang i didnt expect that plot twist the way i knew that Jake was also sus about this whole thing had me gobsmacked abot august he was innocenet apart from setting the fire, i was also shocked to learn emerys dad was involved in the secret too!
