Compare and contrast two types of buildings, match two types anything. Now, when I see these two pictures side by side, I think that they both represent rather the dominance of one over the other - the secular over the religious and vice versa. In fact, I photographed only two things, two objects, two subjects, so to speak - a church, a traditional construction for its time, and a house, also a traditional building for its time and place.
The houses made of stone and wooden cladding are very, very traditional for this place and this time, as I have told you before. The place is the Bulgarian coastal town of Nessebar. And the apse, i.e. the back of this church, well, I've seen and visited churches along the coast with a similar structure, the same construction. Yet, one over the other, or rather, one compared to the other.
In fact, do two things, when placed side by side, necessarily always have to be compared?
Imagine how these two buildings sigh at this random crazy thought of another random tourist. Well no, nothing and no one can and should be compared.
