Spirited Away holds a place in my heart from it's original release back in 2001 till even today. It is one of my most favourite Anime's.
The story is amazing, not too heavy but just right for most ages. It has everything for kids and adults alike. The artwork is beautiful, the musical score is one of my favourites, and overall is a really good film to enjoy.
The story starts with Chihiro Ogino and her family in the car on the way to their new house. Her father decides to take a shortcut and ends up at an abandoned amusement park.
Venturing through the amusement park with her parents, things take a turn for the worse when her parents start devouring the ghostly food. This turns them into pigs. This is their punishment for eating the food prepared for the spirits.
Chihiro realises she has crossed over into the spirit world and from here she meets a range of great characters and fun spirits such as the Radish spirit who is hands down my favourite spirit!
I tried to work out how many times I have watched this film but I have no idea. It must easily be in the thousands by now!
It has one of the most beautiful pieces of music by Joe Hisaishi and I am glad I got to hear it in my lifetime. This is a regular play for me and I genuinely don't know how much I have listened to this song. It's just perfect and fits the film so well.
