Hello readers, Happy Saturday!
I'm enjoying a busy, rainy Saturday.
The day didn't begin rainy, so I took a quick drive to the Dollar General five minutes away. I picked up several items on sale including a gift card for a graduate at church.
When I went to check out, their machine went black, backing up the line while the cashier desperately attempted to contact management for directions. I decided to take a bold move and put my card chip into the slot. This action caused the machine to reboot and then to function. While this was going on, the rain began coming down in buckets.
Soon after I arrived home, Jeff wanted to take a trip to Harbor Freight for some long, needle-nose plyers. We stopped to check out feed troughs to use for planters for our tomatoes that are overcrowded with four tomato plants per bucket. I want a crop this year. The wood and metal troughs were too expensive.
I had Jeff stop at Shoe Department to let me shop for sandals to wear in the house. I hate walking on dog hair. With two dogs that shed daily, it's impossible to prevent. The sandals Jeff found in my size (there were few variations) had a ticket price of $17.
The cashier offered to add me to their reward program. I asked her to look up my phone number to see if I was already registered with the store's reward program and, to my surprise, I was registered and had $11 of rewards available! I asked the girl with purple hair to apply the discount to this sandal purchase and I walked out with the sandals for $6.50. This was a win!
I rained off and on all day. Jeff went to the gym after he made hamburgers for us on the George Forman Grill for the first time since he joined the gym (months ago).
While he was working out, I washed dishes, did a load of laundry and made chocolate pudding. I used the prepared powdered milk he mixed up this week. Jeff said the powered milk would work for cooked pudding. After it was halfway boiled, I read the small print on the Jell-O box. The box's instructions said that prepared dry milk won't set. I googled this problem to see if there was a way to correct this. One article suggested to add 1/3 cup of cornstarch, so I mixed cornstarch with cold water and then added it. I didn't put the pudding in a graham cracker pie shell like I initially planned to do for that reason. I hope the pudding tastes good as plain pudding. If the spoon I licked is any indication, the pudding will taste delicious!
