Happy Mother's Day to all of the rare gems of Alive and Hive Communities who were celebrating today.
We went to church this morning and watched more of a series on music as viewed by God's Word for Sunday School. Each week for Sunday School, Pastor has been showing one of the 1992 series produced by Dr. Frank Garlock called The Language of Music. The preacher was also a specialist in the art of music. Before becoming a preacher, our pastor was a rock and roll musician who played the drums in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I met him before he became a pastor as a Sunday School teacher at a church named Bethel Baptist where I was baptized at age nineteen as a young mother.
Two of my church sisters brought me Mother's Day gifts. I was very touched by their gestures.
The morning celebration was a celebration of mothers. All moms were recognized with a small gift and chocolate bar. The church produced a beautiful tribute to moms where many people secretly recorded kind words about their mothers. It drew a few tears from me as I reflected on my Mother who died in 1997.
After church, my grandchildren were dropped off for dinner with me and their dad. I enjoyed a tasty salad and a steak cooked just the way I like it. The grandkids ate steak, and Jeff and my son enjoyed salmon.
It was a nice Mother's Day today and I'm blessed. The photograph was taken by a local photographer who took my mother's engagement photos. She told us the story of how she walked by his studio one day to see he'd blown her photo up to use as an advertisement picture for his studio. This is one of my favorite pictures of Mom. Her name was Arlene. I miss you Mom and we will meet in Heaven one day.
