The VSC Team is heads down building!

in #vsc3 months ago

Greetings Hive community! I just want to give you a quick update about the state of VSC development. The tl;dr is we have been busy, heads down, fixing critical bugs and adding new features. Since our last blog post we've fixed a ton of bugs and re-engineered numerous broken systems. The team has also finished development of the Bitcoin chain relay (a very important perquisite for production ready bitcoin wrapping). I won't say too much on the specifics yet, but we plan on making a series of several announcements in the weeks leading up to HiveFest. There is a lot being worked on, and I'm quite excited to showcase it to the community and everyone attending HiveFest this year. The entire VSC team is expected to be there and it would be great to see you there!

Going forward I'd like to start pushing out more blog posts and text updates on what is happening with VSC. We have been a bit quiet over the last 2 months, and for a project very critical to Hive that definitely shouldn't be the standard. I will be putting out more blog posts on interesting topics and keeping the community updated over the next several weeks leading up to HiveFest. However, it's important to note a vast majority of my time is spend coding or working with other engineers on the team. Writing blog posts creates additional workload that has to be balanced accordingly.

Please read this if you are a node operator!

If you are running a VSC node, you will need to do a MANUAL upgrade. Recent changes to the docker configuration require you to manually update your node. Please disregard this message if you have already done this process. This is only required if you haven't manually updated your node after June 17 2024. After manually updating, no further intervention is required.

If you are using the vsc-deployment (new method) run the following commands.

  1. cd ~/vsc-deployment (or where ever your vsc-deployment repo is)
  2. git pull
  3. sudo docker-compose down
  4. sudo docker-compose up -d

If you are using the original vsc-node deployment method, run the following commands.

  1. cd ~/vsc-node (or where ever your vsc-node repo is)
  2. sudo docker-compose down
  3. sudo ./migrate.sh
  4. cd ../vsc-deployment (or where ever you set the new repo to be)
  5. sudo docker-compose up -d

I very much care and am excited for what this can/will bring to Hive
