Fun stroll in a Scottish seaside town

in Wednesday Walk7 months ago

Hello Hello Hivians

I just had to put on chain my recent walk and what better way than to participate in the #wednesdaywalk initiative for the first time in May.

Let's go

First up was to drop Mrs T at her crochet club in the Galleries and then head down into town.

The time of this walk is between 1.30 and 3.30 pm.

Just look how beautiful it was and the sky was that gorgeous blue colour we all love 💙

It was time to head into town. The High Street is fighting, but there are far too many shops that have left and so buildings are still to let.

Meanwhile I had some shopping to get done!

Nothing too heavy mind you!

image.png

The sky was still a gorgeous blue and it was pleasantly warm as there was no wind to chill the air!

The sea even looked calm just to prove my point.

That sky, I am writing this at 7.15am today Wednesday and how I wish it was blue like that, we have rain!

Yes yes many of you reading this love the rain and comfort it brings, well at night it is fine and it is what keeps Scotland looking so green lush and beauitful!

The buildings, we forget how lucky we are to have architecture that has been around the block so to speak!

Whilst we are on the subject of forgetting, you can't forget what country you are in when you see a sign for Kiltmakers....

I wonder if all the ladies that make dresses know how much tartan goes into making a kilt!

All those pleats and folds account for a surprising amount!

Take note of the sky in this picture we will be walking up this street in an hours time ....

I sauntered down to the esplanade at the intersection where the heart is ...

But what lies beyond the heart? Let's find out...

It is the last of the beach.

We are going to zoom in a bit, the eagled eyed amongst you might see some blobs on the rocks...

They are Eider ducks, the brown one is a female and the black and white ones are the males.

but what about these two wee ducklings ... Cute huh?

I did write Fluffing Eider cuteness if you want to see some more of the funky looking Eider ducks!

The blue sky meanwhile is starting to vanish, actually it is being replaced by a ha'ar coming in from the sea ....

Before we headed towards Dysart look at what was sitting in the road!

It was an old Ford Cortina and it was in fantastic condition.

I wonder how old it is ... Any ideas?

Those wheels were sparkling!

Like many places with docks and waterfronts, newish flats were built although they still have some wee boats in the harbour which are always colourful things!

Can you guess what the Carr's building is ....

It is actually a flour mill, one of only 2 left in Scotland.

This was me about to turn around ... I was not about to go up those fluffing steep steps though!

Actually they do look good old fashioned set of steps with the metal hand railing in the middle...

One last look and then time to turn round and back we go....

Of course I just had to snap BABYLAND and immediately thought of @lhes

Past the heart now and you can see that ha'ar rolling in. Like fog or mist it cuts down your visibility!

Up the street we go and for some reason unusual vehicles were about to come into view....

What a funky trike, that tickled me, sitting back and two wheels at the front, I am guessing more stable or something?

Two seconds later a wee red sports car popped past taking advantage of the good weather by having the top down ... a MG maybe?

Ah here comes the curmudgeon rant, I cannot abide wee NEDS who take delight in fcuking destroying everything. Councils and local tourist offices try to make places better and then shit likethat happens.

Now it was time to come up the last hill, and remember I told you earlier to look at the blue sky with this building with the clock...

Not fluffing blue anymore not that the ha'ar has taken hold of the sky...

Next up we changed from two webbed feet of ducks to four paws of the pup variety!

I just love this house with the clock of the Auld Kirk in the background, you would think we were back a few centuries....

Luckily there are no lorries that go up and down this road as look at that fluffing tree that overhangs almost the whole street. Yes winter has well and truly fluffed off!

Now then, how many dogs ....?

Did you spot the wee one to make it four, I didn't until I made this post!

Then it was time for a breather and a swig of water and look at that view...

The view in question was this big church.

Now though it was 3.20 pm and I needed go meet Mrs T!

What a lovely place ,looks so clean

You know compared to so many towns in many countries it is very clean. I am not sure how long it is going to stay like that.

Thanks guys and so sorry to see you stopping

You’ve seen a lot on your walk!
My first time to know about the ducks colored by gender. You took great shots of them!
Is it frequent to see fog and mist over there?

You know quite often with birds and especially duck, the females are usually brown and it is the males that have colours which are to try and get caught by a female.
The ha'ar comes off the sea and it can happen anytime, usually first thing in the morning and then gets burnt off by the sun.

Scotland looks so refreshing despite the fog but I liked the blue skies earlier though.

Those eider ducks are cute but why does the make have two colors and the female one color...not fair.

By the way boss boss, are you afraid of old steep steps?😆

Hehe that is common with ducks the females are usually just brown and the males have different colours. They need to look their most handsome to attract a female duck with to make!
Hehe those steps are great but murder when hauling up bags of shopping 🤣

😂😂😂, alright boss boss

I love the view of the sea. It's calming. The ducks are also cute.

That heart is a beautiful sight

Yeah I have always lived near the sea in all the countries I have lived in and it is calming for me. The heart is a great addition to the esplanade 😁

How are you dear friend @tengolotodo good morning
What a beautiful afternoon you have chosen for your walks, although I must say that the rains are a blessing, and as you say, it keeps the city green.
What a beautiful city, it has beautiful buildings with incredible architecture.
Have a great day

Hi there @jlufer yes it was a beautiful day and do you know since then the weather has been terrible!
Yes rains are a blessing if not too much, we have been having floods.
But yes it is a beautiful place, thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!

What a lovely blue sky! Seems like just in Glasgow they had the bad weather then 😅😆 I didn't see you grab a 99 with flake though Ed?

Yes and now that blue sky has well and truly gone Steve! hehe a 99 would have been awesome, funnily enough I never saw an ice cream van though Steve😎

Looks like a an amazing little town! I bet that street is awesome when it is lit up at night with those overhead lights. It's interesting how a lot of towns are doing that to create spaces that people want to visit.

It has a lot going on and is full of history. Adam Smith was from here for example. Yes as things shift places need to do things to keep places alive. Not sure how well it is going though.

Scotland probably has that fine old structures. Not easy to maintain this far.

I was not about to go up those fluffing steep steps though!, I can see you also have that stairs issues. don't like stairs and traffic, always like come on, is there no other way to get it done. Lols

Hehe the traffic can be a pain to cross. Mind you in theory it is more civilised to cross here than in some cities in Nigeria shall we say!

For a man in his eighties, you sure walk a lot. I am out of breath and I did not even take a step 😂. I saw the wee pups butt. Can never miss a butt.

And I would say that car is old enough to be your grandfather… I like the sky … a little…

How’s Mrs. T?

Well I love to walk, but I do it way less than I used. Us octogenarians have to keep fit and stretch our legs you know!

Yeah I know we both can never miss a butt!
Mrs T is admiring the jar on the TV stand 😎

With that clear blue sky, I guess it's so hot.

Hehe I would say warm but not hot 🤣

😛😛

Interesting architecture, big trees, with a blue sky in the morning, what a beautiful day to go walking your wee village!

Thanks for taking us along Ed.
