Keep on Truckin! 😊
Seems like everyone is busy this time of year😅
Silvertop’s oldest son is a hay farmer. I heard him make the statement the other day that………..
“ It’s going to be a long day Dad! “🥵
There’s a lot of truth to the statement about “ making hay while the sun shines!”😇
Another cutting of hay from my son’s field finally finished!
At the same time in another field, in the valley, other farmers are wrapping up the raspberry harvest as well!
You can see in the third photo, stacks of trays filled with freshly harvested raspberries. Behind this flatbed truck sits a berry harvesting machine, that vibrates and shakes the berries off the bushes!😊
This time of year, water starts to become precious.
We passed Tim, one of our neighbors on today’s hike, he was filling a water storage tank from his well.
“ Tim, I see you are enjoying some of our cool 70 degree days…….. do you need a coat Lol? “ 😇
You see, Tim normally resides at his main home in Mexico.
“ Silvertop it’s 98 degrees Fahrenheit back home in Mexico. We finally got a little rain last week! Other than that, it’s been dry all summer! “🙄
Tim comes up here occasionally, and does some home improvements on a rustic cabin he owns.
He paid to have a new water well drilled at this cabin it’s 90 feet deep.
“Silvertop I can run/pump this well 25 minutes to fill this water storage tank. Then I need to wait 30 minutes for the well to recover.”😳
For the Northwest, that receives so much rainfall, it’s strange that some people struggle with poor flowing water wells!😮
Tim was telling me that he doesn’t have AC back home in Mexico!
“ We will catch you later Tim, we’re trying to hike early to beat the heat of the day! It’s supposed to go all the way up to 75°F today, it’s going to be a scorcher! “ 🥵
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊

i can't imagine how hay is made. do you just dry it up?

I believe that they need to let it dry for several days without rain that’s usually the reason for the rush to bale and pick up very quickly….😇😊

oh my. my hay knowledge is surely lacking. is there some specific grass used or any in the field will do?

My son tells me he has special grass that if it dries out the grass will die out.....
Sounds like an awful lot of work for me, but he enjoys it!!🥰

you enjoy the living more. hihihi

Absolutely my friend!😎😊
