Yesterday we bought our Christmas tree! As usual, we went to our local Home Depot and got a six - to seven foot tall Noble Fir tree.
Last year, we got a Douglas Fir tree, and it was a one or two sizes larger around eight feet tall. This year, my lower back has been bothering me, so we decided to go for a smaller tree so it is easier to carry to the second floor.
We even planned to get a five foot tree this year, but it just didn't look right to any of us.
So we got this one, and it is a really nice and bushy one. It is also really wide and on a short trunk, so we don't even need a tree skirt.
It was really fun to see our daughter being super excited about the tree and decorating it. She helped me install the tree and put the lights on.
She did most of the tree decorating with us helping her in the end. It was really awesome to do it as a family, life's precious little moments.
We even go to put some of the first presents under the tree.
The Fir smell is now filling our living room. Many of the ornaments on our tree come with special memories. For example, the one right below we bought at a market in Kihei, Maui:
The star ornament below I got last year for our daughter at Swarovski:
And the one below my daughter painted for me:
Some of the ornaments on our tree are from the Soviet Union days. My wife brought them with her to America, and I am sure she has lots of childhood memories about them.
All of this happy commotion also resulted in over ten thousand steps!
We had Christmas music playing, and it really feels like Christmas is not that far away!
