😊Hey Battle Mages! Happy New Year Fam🤗
Woots! Can't believe it's been 2months gone seen my last battle post. It's been challenging fam, but glad to post about my battles again.
I have so far shared my approach to Twenty six (26) Rulesets, here's the last one on UNPROTECTED
and I have come to introduce you to another. But, before I tell you all about it, there's plenty days left, so if you want to know other battle mages secrets and take part by sharing with us yours, simply visit 👉BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!.
Splinterlands seeks to sharpen skills by allowing players explore various strategies via rulesets. I have tried to study a few cards especially with the newly introduced rulesets, giving one more reasons to know what cards strongly suits them.
Before the start of any battle, each player is shown what ruleset is allowed in battle and it is extremely beneficial to read and strategize accordingly. The ruleset secret I will be sharing you to in this post is the BROKEN ARROWS
BROKEN ARROWS RULESET implies that Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.
With this in mind players must consider the following;
A front line monster with a high Health Point and the Void ability can deal with both melee and magic.^(a)
Tank healing support will help your tank. In this rule set, using thorns or magic reflect is also very useful.^(b)
Units with 2 types of attack (which include ranged) cannot be used.^(c)
Consider utilizing units with Thorns or Magic Reflect, as your opponent will have to use either melee or magic units.^(d)
This is a very interesting ruleset because I especially enjoy the use of melee brute force, and have a perfect battle to demonstrate it's use and a possible lineup that works for low-high mana battle. Before we charge into the battlefield, I'll introduce you to the monsters and why I picked them.
RULE SET | |
---|---|
STANDARD | MODIFICATIONS TO THE RULES AND MECHANICS |

AVAILABLE ELEMENT | only Water🌊 and Death☠️ elements allowed |
This was a low mana cap battle with the spotlight ruleset of the week BROKEN ARROWS
in combination with EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
and REVERSE SPEED
.
📌TIPS TO NOTE ABOUT THESE RULESETS:
BROKEN ARROWS : Ranged attackers take a backseat, making high HP tanks with the Void ability crucial. Backup your tank with healing support, and strategies like Thorns or Magic Reflect can further tilt the odds in your favor.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY : All Monsters have the Opportunity ability. Speed and HP is the trick here: higher speed will let you target enemy's low HP monster first, opening the way for your slower monsters to deal damage to higher HP enemy monsters. Keep lower HP monsters in front. Monsters who have two attack types should always be preferred.
REVERSE SPEED : Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. Try to pick monsters with 1 speed because they have the best chance of evading Melee and Ranged attacks. Beware of monsters with Enrage and Last Stand, these abilities increase speed when activated.
⚔️ TEAM LINE-UP & REASONS I ENGAGED THEM IN BATTLE ⚔️
☠️THADIUS BROOD - SUMMONER
The great and most dreaded THADIUS BROOD, a summoner with the supernatural ability to take away -1 magic and -1❤️ Health points from enemy monsters.
👉WHY I PICKED THADIUS BROOD
This summoners debuffs is so deadly in such ruleset as without Ranged monster on battlefield, then you are sure you opponent will come with magic. This summoner is Anti-magic, he defies the odds, absolute utility.
☠️CORPSE FIEND - FIRST POSITION
This formidable CORPSE FIEND
is a terrifying monsters from the deep core of darkness. It is the face of utter Hopelessness and anyone who looks upon knows that their End has come. A 3-star ⭐️⭐️⭐️ warrior worthy of it's rank. The add OPPORTUNITY
ability as per Ruleset combo means it will try to focus it's attack on enemies weakest monsters.
👉WHY I PICKED CORPSE FIEND
I picked CORPSE FIEND because it's health is good enough to hold abit in battle and I have employed it solely for this purpose, to absorb hits in the first position. This cards attack type is Melee, and it is part of the Death unit. It costs 0-mana to use in battle.
☠️CURSED WINDEKU - MAIN TANK & MELEE ASSUALT
CURSED WINDEKU
is an Anti-Melee monsters with the Thorns
ability which allows it deal damage back at it's attacker, it uses same thorn to protect itself. Being regenerative, this creature is able to Heal
it self in battle each round.
👉WHY I PICKED CURSED WINDEKU
I picked CURSED WINDEKU because I envisaged that my Enemy will come at me with magic spell casters. This Monster will help me outlast the enemies monsters in battle.
☠️CRYPT BEETLE - BACK DEFENSE
In Third position comes the formidable 8-star⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ CRYPT BEETLE, a common card that has the Shield
ability. It has a decent mana cap of 3, which is great for low mana battles and that's fascinating because it's rare to see monsters with this ability at such low mana cost.
👉WHY I PICKED CRYPT BEETLE
I picked CRYPT BEETLE because it's a melee attack monster and this obviously tells us that it doesn't have a huge tank, hence not best for front-line, but because of it's ability though, you could place it in second position, but I'd hate to expose it that soon, so 3rd is okay. It will do well to absorb all backline attacks. The added Opportunity
ability makes a massive weapon.
Without further ado, let us now enter the battleground.
⚔️ THE BATTLE ⚔️
- The Enemy came at me with the Water element, KEYLA FRENDUL as Summoner. Enemy-CRUEL SETHROPODE in first position, Enemy-TIDE BITER in second position, Enemy-PELACOR BANDIT in third position, and finally Enemy-TORRENT FIEND in last position.
SUMMONER-KEYLA FRENDUL gives all his monsters the +1 Speed and + Shield point.
My SUMMONER THADDIUS BROOD takes away -1 magic and -1 speed point from all enemy monsters as expected.
It was a fierce start, as Enemy immediately struck and took out my frontline assualt monster CORPSE FEIND. Enemy's backline tried all the could to take out CRYPT BEETLE, but monster retaliate and eliminated ENEMY-TORRENT FIEND. More hits at CRYPT BEETLE and soon my monster got eliminated too. Now with just CURSED WINDEKU left, it kept regenerating and doing damage back to enemy as they attacked. Soon CURSED WINDEKU took took out all enemy monsters left.
FLAWLESS VICTORY
A RECAP OF THE BROKEN ARROWS RULESET
In battles that use the BROKEN ARROWS
ruleset, ranged attack monsters may not be used in battles. This can make battles more challenging, as players must rely on other types of monsters [Melee and Magic] to deal damage and control the battlefield.
To succeed in Broken Arrows, players should consider using a high-HP monster with the Thorn ability, which can deal great damage. Additionally, players should give their tank a boost with regenerative support, to help them outlast in battle and continue to deal damage [👉For Death Splinter : CURSED WINDEKU].
Using abilities such as Thorns or Magic Reflect can also be very useful in this ruleset, as they can help to deal damage to opponents while also protecting your own monsters. Players should also be aware of which types of attacks their opponents are using, and choose the right summoner to defend against either magic or melee attacks.
Overall, Broken Arrows can be a challenging and engaging ruleset, but it requires careful planning and execution to succeed. By using the right monsters, abilities, and summoner strategies, players can gain an advantage and emerge victorious in even the toughest battles.
✅From this battle and my observation. These abilities played a KEY role, especially for a low-mid manna cap like this which I enjoy.
👉 The HEAL ABILITY
Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round. 💡At lower levels, the Healing ability in the front position can go a long way.
👉 The THORN ABILITY
When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker"> Reduced damage from Magic attacks. [💡Monster Cursed Windeku OR Summoner Mylor Crowling as seen in this battle].
That will be all about my battle with BROKEN ARROWS
as focus ruleset and End of Season rants. Thank you for stopping by😊
