Today is Sunday, the eve of Carnival Monday, the weather is still cold and that is rare in a tropical country like #Venezuela. My joints don't take the cold well, so I don't feel comfortable in this climate, but I suppose it could be worse, I know compatriots who are suffering from sub-zero temperatures in other parts of the world, they emigrated from the country looking for new life opportunities, as part of the Venezuelan Diaspora that emerged after the economic, social and political debacle of my country for several years.
My day has been calm, I did not have as many power cuts as yesterday and the Internet signal is fairly stable, we have run out of water, but tomorrow we have to solve that to charge the house tank, at least to last a few more days, if it doesn't rain, or they send us water through pipes, then we will have a hard time. Anyway, this is my Venezuela in our XXI Century Socialism.

Hoy es domingo, víspera del lunes de carnaval, El clima sigue siendo frío y eso es raro en un país tropical como #Venezuela. Mis articulaciones no llevan bien el frío, así que no me siento cómodo con este clima, pero supongo que podría ser peor, sé de compatriotas que están sufriendo con temperaturas bajo cero en otros lugares del mundo, ellos emigraron del país buscando nuevas oportunidades de vida, como parte de la Diáspora Venezolana que surgió luego de la debacle económica, social y política de mi país desde hace varios años.
Mi día ha estado tranquilo, no tuve tantos cortes del suministro eléctrico como ayer y la señal de Internet está medio estable, nos hemos quedado sin agua, pero ya mañana tenemos como resolver eso para cargar el tanque de la casa, al menos para que dure unos pocos días más, si no llueve o nos mandan agua por tubería, entonces sí que la pasaremos mal. En fin, esto es mi Venezuela en nuestro Socialismo del Siglo XXI.

I do not want to delve into the personal issue, because there is not much to say, at least I am better than several million compatriots and that is something to be grateful for in #life, despite the problems I may have. It is a date that is established in order to raise awareness about the problem of plagiarism, in #academic and professional fields, as an ethical problem, but also as a symptom of a person's moral deficiency, in addition to the legal problems that Can imply. Plagiarism, defined in a very general way, can be understood as the fact or action of passing off the #work or creation of another person as one's own intellectual production, it is possible that it occurs due to an error in paraphrasing or quoting with an inappropriate format, but it's definitely a serious problem when done with the full intent of stealing someone else's creation.

No quiero profundizar en el tema personal, porque no hay mucho que decir, cuando menos estoy mejor que varios millones de compatriotas y eso ya es algo como para estar agradecido con la vida, a pesar de los problemas que yo pueda tener. Mejor pasemos a comentar la efemérides de la #Historia que escogí para el registro de hoy, sucede que ya me he acostumbrado a la idea de que hay fechas de conmemoración muy diversas, pero no sabía acerca de que hoy era el Día de Prevención del Plagio.
Se trata de una fecha que se instaura con la finalidad de crear conciencia sobre el problema del plagio, en ámbito académico y profesional, como un problema ético, pero también como un síntoma de una deficiencia moral de la persona, además de los problemas judiciales que puede implicar. El plagio, definido de manera muy general, se puede entender como el hecho o la acción de hacer pasar como una producción intelectual propia el trabajo o la creación de otra persona, es posible que se produzca por un error al parafrasear o hacer una cita con un formato inadecuado, pero es definitivamente un problema grave cuando se hace con plena intención de robar la creación de otra persona.

En mis recuerdos como profesor, el problema del plagio era un dolor de cabeza, en cierta medida lo llamábamos el problema del “Control+C; Control+V” por las teclas asociadas a los comandos de copiar y pegar que son de uso frecuente en los navegadores web y procesadores de palabras. Hace unas décadas, el problema del plagio era por copiar fragmentos de libros o tesis de investigación de otras personas, pero desde la explosión de la WWW en 1994, nuestro problema se llevó a nuevas alturas con la proliferación de las fuentes electrónicas.
Algunos colegas se mostraron muy negados a aceptar las fuentes electrónicas como referencias válidas para una investigación o trabajo de clase, pero con el paso del tiempo se impuso la realidad, la Web había llegado y no se podía detener su uso, así que varias compañías crearon distintos software de detección de plagio, y surgieron también servicios gratuitos en línea, también hay servicios de suscripción y pago que tienen aún mejores funciones para rastrear posibles casos de plagio.

En mi actualidad, el problema sigue, simplemente es que se han refinado las técnicas para ejecutar esta estafa académica, con lo que el trabajo de revisión docente necesita también llevar un proceso de discusión en aula, pues es una manera de verificar el contenido, aunque no es del todo confiable.
