This is a film I have been looking forward to watching for a while, so I was very pleased to see it on Amazon Prime and I have Prime free over Christmas. Generally I don't like violence or alcohol promotion type films, but this one I was keen to see Jake ripped as a UFC fighter and of course the legend himself Conor MacGregor.
Jake and Conor play super tough unbeatable and skilled former UFC fighters and the movie provides plenty of very over the top fantasy type scenes where they get to fight it out against many protagonists and each other.
Without giving too much away, Jake decides to help the owner of a biker bar in the Florida Keys as a bouncer and stop rowdy customers getting out of hand. The scenery is beautiful backdrop to The Keys and the film makes the most of it.
What gets hard to believe is the alcoholic behaviour and general violence portrayed in this bar. Especially as I have never been there, but I just couldn't imagine such behaviour in such a beautiful scenic place! Also, if there was such anti-social behaviour, would this be tolerated so easily by the police?
Jake does a great job in his role and is great to see in the fight scenes. Although often silly, they were entertaining to watch and I was rooting for him of course. Conor as Knox was pretty hilarious. They really tried to make him some out of this world character that goes around mindlessly hurting people and as some sort of walking chaos.
His scenes enter into the realms of fantasy, but despite this, is very entertaining to watch. The backdrop of the Florida Keys somehow seems very odd for everything that is going on there. I mean, especially when the bar is in a small town and not in the bigger cities there.
My favorite parts are the fight scenes as they are not too graphic and are quite funny to watch. Sometimes you think oof, that must have hurt. The UFC fighters are portrayed as fighting gods which may or may not be totally realistic. I know I wouldn't like to face up against one of them though.
Overall, it was some easy going movie watching without any brain power required. I quite enjoyed it and would for sure recommend it.
Thanks for reading.
