The news was officially announced that on August 15th the new Rebellion reward cards will drop and the Chaos Legion ones will no longer be available in the Glint shop!
Some of the Chaos Legion reward cards are pretty powerful and highly sought after, so many people will be seeking to grab as much glint as they possibly can before the deadline!
There will be a total of 43 new cards to collect and we didn't get any sneak peak of what they might look like yet or if there are summoners again included in this set.
What we do know is that they are mixed up as follows:
12 common cards
12 rare cards
7 epic cards
12 Legendary cards
They also will come with 4 new abilities and something new called debilities. There will be 3 new debilities and I am sure this could just be the start of the debilities feature and we may start to see it more often and maybe in game rules.
The debilities are Incendiary, Electrified and Weary. They do extra damage or weaken your units as the game progresses and it will be fun to see how this might affect the game play going forward.
One thing is for sure, similar to when the chaos legion soulbound cards dropped, it will take some time for the cards to become fully useful as they need to be leveled up first to fit into some teams and gain their new ~abilities~ debilities. 😀
There has been lots of debate in the community about soulbound cards because they allow bots to exploit the game without any investment and also the card print in the game is super high and this continues that trend with no way to balance this introduced either.
Chaos Legion Soulbound Unbinding
The announcement about the costs to unbind the soulbound cards caused a stir in the community with the ultra high costs required and some criticisms of this because it will reduce the new player experience further if new players cannot get a hold of these cards easily.
My main sadness about it is that I prefer to own NFTs rather than soulbound cards, so it is frustrating that it makes no sense to do that with the current incentives. A smart suggestion by @constanza was to require a burning of a similar level card in order to unbind which would also reduce card inflation. This makes sense imo and allows more people in the community to be happy, rather than be extorted for cards they already own.
Soulbound Strategy
With my spare glint earnings, I was initially buying epic cards to try and upgrade my epic cards which are only at 60% completed. However, my summoners are all on level 7 except 1 that I have maxed out and now I focus on my rare cards to try and get these maxed out.
We only have 10 days left and chances to earn glint are falling by the day. Therefore I go to extreme mode and have looked to rent 300k SPS and buy 50 extra energy so I can play more and earn enough glint to max our my rare cards at least. This might also earn me enough glint at the end of the season to get some legendary cards of the new rebellion soulbound set.
From the regular units, things are looking better with War Pegasus and Ravenhood Warden maxed up. I need 15 compies of Venari Marksrat which would be my next goal. Leveling up Madcap Magus seems a tough ask with over 50 copies needed...
If I get any spare glint, I would try to upgrade my Kulu Mastermind and Drybone Raider to max level. After them, I think I use Aves Sturgis the most also, he needs two copies to max out!! I really have left it abit late to try and max them up, but I thought I would have more time.
Do you have all your soulbound cards already?
