For their own sake... hopefully not. Imagine being the shadow of something, your entire existence bound by what is casting you and tossed around by a distant force in the sun ... then again, I guess that also describes our human existence to a certain degree.
Let's be real... they take the same walk every day, always in the same direction, varying only slightly by the deviation of the sun over the seasons...
but maybe they do believe that's what they choose and need... then I guess they're actually free.
