Two directions to go: people's skills or hand skills. We will need good communicators and good handy persons in the future.

By the way, the reason that I visited your post is to ask you a favor. Could you cast your WORKERBEE vote my way? That would be really awesome. Thanks a lot, any way you decide. Have a great weekend.

Hey, thanks a lot. Yes, let's climb up :)

It's a bit frustrating how you can't move on your own power. nobody is selling WORKERBEE ...

About the original post above - I forgot to write down that empathy is the key. This civilization lacks empathy and it's dearly needed for our future to be worth living.

Have a great day.

I totally agree with that... We are in a "me me me" world and the quality to put yourself in other people's shoes is definitely lacking in many places :-)

If I would start out now to learn a profession I would go for coding in unity and in python and vuejs and custom jason. These skills seem to be very sought after.

These are the typical skills a blockchain developper would need :-). You are right there are not enough people knowing around these skills...

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

I would say to follow your passions and work there. But they should at least learn and trade in something. Good careers depending on their interests that could give you an advantage would be a mechanic. As you would save in car repair bills etc. Or some tradesman, so that you can do up your own house very easily. These careers need you to be physically fit, so you need to be disciplined and save and invest early though.

I think that you are right that a career should be choosen in a field where the person has a passion. At the end of the day, if you enjoy what you are doing then it's not really work :-).

If I were to go for a new job right now I’d find a way to get affordable education and experience in data science or epidemiology and go that route.

Still may be something that come to reality. I’d imagine the first step would be to put together a portfolio and find an data analyst position and attempt to get there that way from my current position. Id feel more comfortable working myself into a data scientist position that way from where I am now…

But these kids now days are crazy smart and talk to them about it and share with them my experience. ( Coming from a guy with no kids)

@danishcrypto follow the liotes project

When I look at how technological advance takes more and more speed, it's pretty difficult to give a valid counsel. The career that is the best today, is maybe already outdated by the time they finish their studies... It's not easy :-)

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

Hmm, that's a tough one. I'd say soft skill like flexibility and adaptability are important, but are kind of difficult to teach. If we're talking hard skills, some coding skills, financial basics, and maybe at least one artistic pursuit to have some balance.

It's indeed a difficult question. Soft skills and social skills will always be in need I believe.

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

More specifics are needed though. How young is this young person? Someone who has already graduated? Or is still a small child?

Let's assume he/she is a graduate, job choices will be kinda focused on their area of specialty mostly.

Regardless, the most important skill in my opinion is networking. Birds of a feather flock together. Drop those that are toxic and and gather only likeminded positive people around you. No matter your job choice, it will propel you to greater heights.

Interpersonal skills take in my opinion a very important place in todays society. In a couple of years technology will be very different from today but you will still need these interpersonal skills to work with other people :-)

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

I would choose coding especially demand of devs in web3 or Blockchain is growing... So, I'm also looking to start with it.

If I have one more option to pick I would say 3D designing... I think it's Gonna have a huge potential in coming time.

These are interesting fields and there is a big demand for them at the moment. The question is to know that once you start this career path, it will still be in demand once you graduate :-)

Hopefully it will.. a serious thing to worry about as this AI arrived between hoomans😬

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

With the development of technology making most jobs in danger, I would just go with whatever people have a passion for. There are multiple ways to monetize that but I guess mine would be something like a coder. I guess it wouldn't be so bad to make your own game or some other application that you desire without having to wait for others.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

... without having to wait for others.

I count on the fact that AI will allow us to create code and games without the necessary knowledge in not to far a future. That's why I believe that jobs that can't be replaced by technology are the best bet at the moment.

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

It would definitely be something related to technology. This is increasingly present in people's lives and there is not so much skilled labor for the demand that exists and this may increase even more in the future.

Technology is dominating our lives nowadays. But technology also changes a lot. Two years ago I would have councelled to study coding but with AI today, I'm not so sure it's still a good career to pursue...

This is the dilemma I have, I was considering doing programming but I think I'll study prompt engineering or something related

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

I will say "follow your dreams". :)

But first, just get whichever job his qualifications allow him to. I assume said young person has graduated in something?

Follow your dreams is certainly a good point. Unfortunately, I believe that young people nowadays don't really understand about the careers and the worklife and they often have distorted perception about it. This leads them to make th wrong decisions.

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

At this point on my life (nearing retirement), I would say that if I was to start over again, I would focus more on skills that would be beneficial in any job like learning other languages and people skills. I would also put more emphasis on entrepreneurial skills like investing, leadership, marketing, and money management. Finally, in today's society, there is a growing need for service businesses, so I would find a niche in that sector to pursue. Looking back, I have had several setbacks in my career that have caused me to have to realize that money is not the driving factor to happiness. I much more value the time I have spent with family and friends and the experiences I've had rather that the things I have acquired. I have also been much more fulfilled in what I do when I am meeting the needs of others rather than chasing after my own desires.

That's an intersting perspective. I think that money as a motivator doesn't really work that well. In my own career I had the choice between more money and less money but with more free time. I have chosen the later and I don't regret it :-)

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

Jobs are for long haul and needs to be fueled by passion. So first identify where his or her passion is, then seek people already in the field for mentoring or even start a business of their own to build on their passion.

Having passion for what you do really can make your life much nicer. I believe it's the most important aspect when choosing a career.

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

hmmm, interesting question.

No kids, so that part is covered :-)

If i have to start over, i would still go for a software developer's career.
Or may be some level of accounting job.

I would encourage the to study something in the Technology field/industry. The world is getting more and more connected and almost all jobs have computers. Programing or some related would be best.

Nowadays there is hardly any job where you don't need a certain level of technicity.

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

I think that young people should choose their profession according to their tastes and skills, I know of several cases in which parents instill in their children what they should study and then fail because they do not have skills or do not like the career they studied, in my case since I was young I always liked mathematics and administration, so I studied Business Administration, and I am very happy for what I studied today has helped me a lot in business.

When my nieces asked my opinion of what courses or career is good, I told them to listen to their pulse (heart) because how they will fare in the long run depends on the level of their interest on the field they are going to take.

That's awesome! Thank you :)

That's a very important point. If you like what you do every day, life is so much nicer :-)

I would definitely tell them to get involved with crypto and coding. I'd also encourage them to pay attention to AI and maybe start playing around with what it can do. Between that and 3d printing, I think anyone who has a skillset working with them will basically be able find great opportunities in lots of different fields and industries in a few years.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It's true that these skillsets will kind of unravel a world of possibilities that we can hardly imagine at the moment.

AI seems the hype of the day but will it still be in 5 years?

It may not be or they will rename it to something else to hid any negative connotations. I generally say get a college degree without going into debt to deeply.

For the last few years i've always said people should learn coding, but with the rise of AI. It's probably more worth learning a Skill/Trade like the good ole days!

Plumbers/electricians/Engineers/Builders are all going to be needed more than Coders soon!

It seems we are not so far away when AI will code stuff for us without us needing any coding skills. We should think about what jobs can't be substituted by AI and machines :-)

AI and machines can do everything! We're going to be left sitting on our sofas with a VR headset until we get fat and die! Or something like that!

I would advise him to practice empathy, patience, calm and teamwork a lot, I believe that these are essential and individual points that a person can have.

In terms of work skills he could learn, certainly computer courses, typing, focus on higher education and postgraduate studies, in addition to learning as much as possible in communication and interaction with other people.

I agree that in our times, personal qualities are becomming much more important. At the age of google and AI, you can kind of learn everything but the personal basis has to be good and positive.

Hey, great question!

I am not sure though, if it is about the 'job' per se or if we should be discussing soft skills.

If I had the chance to back in time, I would probably choose to learn more about

  • economics fundamental
  • data science
  • coding
  • business development

These are skills that are always useful, even at one's own job.

When I was young people were all crazy about website design. Now, nobody speaks about it and you have CMS like wordpress that kind of replace that job. It's pretty difficult to look far enough into time to see how things will evolve :-)

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

I will ask them to deep dive into themselves first. things they are strong at, make a mapping of their aptitude, and understand their own psychological and behavior first. Then suggest them to do activities, from exercise, charity work, public serving and others engaging themselves with older generations. It helps them alot understanding that the world do not circle around them, everyone are SPECIAL not only themselves

I have enough with telling youngsters about getting a career on their passions. most of them are full of thoughts about how great they are, success follow the hardworking ones, and many misleading positiveness which lead them to choose easy earning careers such as social media influencer or streamers.

such as social media influencer or streamers.

I'm amazed how many young people dream of this kind of job. It's definitely a very trendy acitivity but it's possible that it won't exist anymore in a couple of years...

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

I would tell the person to focus on earning more, having several areas of work (having two jobs for example) and spending less, to accumulate assets as soon as possible, so that he can have the financial freedom to choose something he really likes. I find it a little unrealistic for a person to quickly discover the career they love, with a few exceptions

Earning more and spending less seems so simple but a lot of people ignore this rule that will define whether you accumulate money are go into dept :-)

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

The job of the future content creator! if it's Hive all the better.

We've found it already then :-)

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

I believe AI content will be the first choice of many people. The adaptation of AI will be fascinating. Thus, more focus might be on this side to learn to live with AI assistance like in science fiction movies 😅

AI is still in the early phases, the potential is thrilling

I think we don't really grasp the extend that AI might change our lives and our jobs. It's thrilling indeed :-)

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

This is a really good question because I am convinced that we are at the beginning of great changes that will completely transform our world as we know it.
The first thing I would say is that, from now on, there is no longer any job that a person can do for a lifetime, so it seems to me that there are going to be many different things to learn.
I would start with AI and learn how to apply AI to your activities. On the other hand, I think that in the future there will also be a need for practical skills and working with your hands, e.g. woodworking, farming, and bricklaying, in the sense of doing what you need yourself and not having someone else do it for you.
I'm trying to tell this to my two sons who are just starting out on their own and, of course, they don't listen to me :)

and, of course, they don't listen to me :)

I totally know what you mean lol. In the end we can only counsel our kids but I believe they need to make their choices by themselves.

3 credits added for the Liotes Ranking

This is what I always say to my underclassmen who ask me about their careers or college.

Find a career that suits you (what you can do). It's better if you like to do it because you'll be learning something new in the future almost every day. Try to split the hobby and the work. A hobby should make you happy and work sometimes will make you bored and unhappy.

P.S. It's better to keep professional even if it's from your family especially if they're following their parents.

Skill? As my ex-supervisor said, "It doesn't matter how good you are. If you're having a bad attitude, you won't get hired easily". Communication skills and basic problem-solving skills are a must before the requirements of the job. It's also useful too if you're not looking for a job and want to start a business yourself like me.

Trying to learn more than 2 languages (mother language + English) is already common now at my age too (24 y.o). Choose the third language that they really want to learn. It'll be useful later but you don't need to push so hard for that. At least, good at English if their mother language isn't English first.

The problem with the trend is that it changes very quickly. If you follow the trend of today, you might be outdated tomorrow :-)

Yup that's right!

A farmer or crafter, knowing how to make your food and clothes. Once AI has taken over all the jobs that humans used to do, you will need to be able to clothe and feed yourself!

I quite share this view. We will always need food and clothes and also a roof to live under and I don't believe this will be replaced by AI robots productions :-)

Exactly, it is better to be safe than sorry!
