Night Dance Festival Photography - Jaipong

in Proof of Brain10 months ago

It was the festival on the independence day. There were some participants in the event. I took some photos of a girl who danced Jaipong. Jaipong is a traditional dance from West Java or Sunda Ethnic.

Jaipong is a solo dance performed by a women. It shows the atraction of enegetic movement with traditional musical instrument. Jaipong is an entertaiment for men. Men would go dancing with the girl and gave tip in the past. A Jaipong dancer is always has sexy body with beautiful face. The costumes shows the shape of the sexiness.

A Jaipong dancer needs a special skill. The movement is not random. It is organized. One who wants to learn Jaipong should train a few weeks. The movement is combination of fingers, feet, head and body.

Curently, there are only a few girls who learn Jaipong dance. A state school usually has Jaipong class. The teacher is usually a master.

Jaipong is now less popular than modern dance because modern dance is played easier. There are no strict pattern of the movement. In Jaipong and most the traditional dances in Indonesia, there are many patterns in the movement. A dancer can improvise the movement after she master the patterns.
Ok , you can see the movement the Jaipong dance in this video.
