The Old Republic Is Great

Over the last while I've been playing The Old Republic, it has been so long since getting into an MMO, and as far as they go in general, this is my favourite.

The Stories

I really like the storylines, and the multiple choices you can make while completing each characters class arc.

The dialog options throughout are also really good, and it makes it feel more like an single player RPG, rather than an MMO.

In many games, it very much feels as though you need a team to really enjoy it or get through certain areas or sequences, but I've been playing this solo and have gotten along just fine.

There are missions like Heroic areas, and missions where the game really gets tough and presents a good challenge. Traditionally, these instances should be tackled by teams but I've managed to do them alone, with minimal frustration and it has been fine.

The loot drops have been decent and my also I've been flying up the levels.

Companions

Each storyline involves different companions who you'll encounter throughout your time in the game. They make things much more bearable and can even be set to fulfill different roles. For my bounty hunter character I have Mako, who has been set to a healer and in most cases she keeps my health bar full while I focus on taking out enemies.

Unused companions can be sent out to gather material, and for me, I haven't really utilized any materials for crafting, that's an aspect of the game I'd like to start focusing on as time goes on.

The companions add to the experience and make it seem very much like Knights of The Old Republic, or even Mass Effect, however, you can only have one active at any given time.

The Worlds

There are so many different worlds to explore and see, there are even contested worlds where both Republic and Imperial players share the same space, which is a nice change compared to worlds predominantly owned and populated by any given side.

No battles seem to kick off between either one, but there are PVP segments you can join into which I haven't taken part in. I'd like to look more into it though, even just for the loot drops, but at the moment, tackling Heroic missions and story missions has been good enough.

The worlds themselves are designed well, and really showcase the unique qualities of each. Also, having the ship, you can readily leave a world for whatever reason and come back at your leisure. I'm only level 31 at the moment, so many of these worlds and quests are kind of inaccessible for me due to my relatively low level.

Man, you're dead on - this is a fantastic game. I had one PC that just refused to install it for some reason, but eventually after Ship of Theseus'ing the innards, I managed to replace whatever was giving me trouble and play the heck out of this game. So so fun!
