Carlos just came into the department as the new department head and realized there were loads of internal struggles and politics within his department. He knows this is not healthy and many actions done by his direct reports do actually widen the gap amongst the sections within his department.
He knew he cannot sit there and wait for things to happen and assembled a small task force made up of people of different ages and job grades. This task force is first task is to gather information within the department and to roll it up to Carlos on what are the ground sentiments and what are the struggles they are facing due to the internal politics.
Within a month after the task force formation, loads of information were being gathered and then put together into action to address the issues.
Carlos was able to finally gather the root of the problem and culprits behind the politics. He gave the 2 person an ultimatum, whoever continue to play politics will be asked to leave without any room for further negotiation.
