Hi community!
The president reported at the board meeting on Friday that a full agreement has been reached with the American company.
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta announced to the board of directors during the course of the meeting on Friday that the club has reached a full agreement with Nike to extend its contract, which expired in 2028.
According to sources from the board of directors themselves, the president explained to SPORT the details of the agreement that had been under negotiation for months. The club even explored the possibility of changing sports brands, but in the end it decided to move forward with negotiations with Nike, which has finally led to this agreement being reached.
The members of the board of directors gave the OK to the president who will now be able to look for a date to formalize this key agreement for FC Barcelona because it should allow help to register players in January, as is the case of Dani Olmo or Pau Victor.
The basis of the agreement means an improvement in the stretch that goes from now, 2024 to 2028, with an increase of 45 million euros. From 2028, the agreement will rise to 60 million euros, which includes the signing bonus.
One of the aspects of the agreement, presumably, is the elimination of all the claims that existed between the Club and FC Barcelona for breach of contract during the last seasons.
The collaboration between FC Barcelona and Nike, one of the most important commercial agreements in the history of football, has been crucial to the expansion and success of both parties. This relationship began in 1998, when Nike became the official sponsor of the club, taking over the Kappa brand. Since then, Nike has not only been responsible for the team's kits, but has played a fundamental role in the commercialization and globalization of the Barcelona brand.
